I wanted a set of soup/salad bowls with a "lip" like these. I microwave food in bowls daily, the lip on these keeps my fingers from being burnt. They are a perfect size for a dinner salad or a bowl of soup as part of your meal. It's not the size bowl most people would want as an entree size bowl of soup, unless you don't mind refilling it. They really are a great bowl...if you know what the "grab-it" bowls from long ago look like, those are what I am replacing with these bowls, a classier look that's going to match well with any of my dish sets including my Christmas ones. I would recommend these to anyone...plus Corelle makes a strong product, they take the stress of daily use well.

Now I can have soups more often as these fit easily in the lower drawer of the dishwasher with the plates. I love soup but don't like the amount of space they take as we already have to run the dishwasher every day or every other day. Didn't give it a 5 only because you have to be careful with kids. I heated something in the microwave and since there isn't a little rim on the bottom, you have to teach the kids to hold it firmly from the edges. Completely shattered one as my daughter put her hand on the bottom of the bowl. Would've been nice if it broke instead of shattered. Hopefully picked up all the splinters of glass throughout the kitchen floor.

BEWARE of design changes. I ordered these plates last November and liked them so much, I decided to order an additional set so I would have a set of twelve MATCHING salad plates. The plates I received today are a different design with more of a groove than the first set. I will keep them as on their own, they are fine, but I am just disappointed I ordered this set directly from my last purchase page, and received a different design, even though the title and description are identical.

I really like these particular rimmed bowls. They are perfect for all kinds of things. I have two little kids, and they make ideal plates that prevent food from being shoved off the dish. We always have a salad with dinner and these are nice for salads. They are also good bowls. We ate soup out of them last night and I was surprised ho much liquid they hold. They are very shallow, so the boiling hot soup was able to cool off for the little kids faster than it would have in a deeper bowl.I'm slowly replacing all my Mikasa stoneware stuff with Corelle because the mikasa stuff is chipping and falling apart. I'm wondering if I need the smaller salad plates AND dinner plates, or if these bowls will be used as much as the salad plates...

Purchased these to go with the larger dining set that includes dinner plate, salad plate, and soup bowl. Thought this was going to be larger than it was. Originally expected to use it for bigger helpings of pasta and salad. Now just have to go back for seconds instead (great dieting strategy lol). The Corelle dishes get pretty hot with items like soup and super cold with items like ice cream (I solve this by placing the bowl on top of a plate and holding if I'm not eating at the table). The bowls stack super small, are very light, and don't take up much room in dishwasher -- all wins for me!

Light and fits nicely in a dishwasher - our family favorite. We have had them for several years now (I'm revising my review from 4 to 5 stars) and amongst all other fancy plates I have bought these are our favorite for just about everything except bread/sandwich - but always first choice for salads, soups, pasta, stir fry, and rice dishes. Also they are first choice for my 3 kids probably because they are so light and fit a lot despite their small look. The white goes with everything - best buy for us. They look smaller than the volume they fit - probably due to their slick/thin walls but they don't break easily - don't believe we have broken a single one with our 3 little munchkins yet - hope I didn't jingst us.Dimensions: overall diameter is 8.5", the diameter inside the rim is 6.5" and the depth is 1".

I wish I had read reviews of not using for soup. I have been replacing all of my Pfaltzgraff with white corelle and love most of it. These bowls were a disappointment. I am considering returning them as they clearly do not hold 15oz of liquid. So, I do not know what the 15oz means. These bowls hold one cup of liquid "to the rim", so if having soup for a main light meal, you would not eat enough. We are big soup eaters and these will not do.How can they be described as 15oz if they only hold one cup?

I have been looking for those soup plates everywhere for ages. I had even checked on the Corning sit as well as thrift stores.. I already had some from a long time ago I was so happy to find them here. They are slightly different from the original ones, but the difference is barely perceptible. I use these soup plates all the time, and not just for soup and salads. Soup plates are so much better than soup bowls and certainly more versatile. I am thrilled to have finally found them through Amazon.
