If you were trying to comply with code and just need Smoke Detectors, these are great

These are tried and true, I have put in probably close to 600 of them. They required one in every bedroom, within 12 feet of every bedroom door, and one on every level these communicate with each other based on switches which you will set I can’t think of a time that I’ve had a call back with these. The only time I don’t use them is when I have to integrate with an existing hardware system or if I need CO detectors

The best fire warning device you can use to protect your family

If you want to really be sure your family is protected this is the smoke detector you need. I have installed them in the kitchen, bedrooms, living room laundry room, and in the garage. These detectors are unique because if one goes off they all go off, and they are loud enough to awaken the soundest sleeper. They link to each other by wireless radio frequency. You don't have to hard wire them to each other. The signal will even link to another close by building if you need to monitor a backyard shed or family member in another close by building. They are easy to install, and batteries last a year or better. When mine reach to 10 year mark (max service life) I will buy them again. They are sensitive too, my wife incinerated a piece of toast in the toaster it went off, a piece of food dropped to the bottom of the oven and started burning it went off. Because they interlink if you are in another part of the house doing something else you are warned.

Excellent for sending smoke alarm alerts from unoccupied out-buildings

I have a house and an adjacent 3-floor barn that are about 180 feet apart. I've installed two of these wireless remote smoke alarms on the upper two barn floors and a third unit in my house, to remotely-alert me in the house if anything should start to smoke or catch fire in the barn. (The barn's ground-level floor can't have an alarm because it would be triggered by exhaust from trucks and tractors.)Using the built-in test button, when either of my two barn alarms triggers, the other two are triggered by their mutual radio link, including the one in the house. (And of course, if the one in the house triggers, then the units in the barn trigger in turn.)These units (the instructions say that up to 24 can work together) are perfect for sensing and reporting fire remotely in out-buildings where nobody might be present to hear an alarm going off. That could make a big difference in a situation where a few extra seconds of warning time could matter, never mind how long it might take to know there's a crisis if a person's asleep in their house while their barn or some other out-building is catching fire.I literally sleep better at night, knowing that if anything is generating smoke in my barn, I should hear the alarm in my house via the radio link. I don't know what the maximum radio range is for the Kidde RF-SM-DC, but for me it definitely works at a clear line-of-sight distance of 180 feet, through wooden house and barn walls.

EXCELLENT, set-up, programming, A+

these replace 3 new wireless First Alert, they are far superior : far easier programming / set-up, alarm at the proper db level for home use, the first Alert was way way to LOUD,

Annoying to set up but thankful to have them

I just moved from a small townhouse that had 12 smoke detectors to a small single home with gas heat that had a single smoke detector on each floor and no CO monitor. I didn't see the need of a detector in every single room since it's small and open but I wanted to have a) more detectors and b) have some that communicated from downstairs to upstairs so I'd have more warning (bedroom is upstairs, laundry/kitchen/etc all downstairs with a single exit). After reading reviews I didn't want to splurge on a system that requires a hub etc so these fit the bill. To be honest, having a smart detector set that I can get alerts on the phone would be nice but I have a lot of expenses right now so I just stuck with these. They are LOUD- screechingly head-ringingly loud. When batteries go in they go OFF loudly and I struggled for the longest 2 minutes of my life to quiet them both (pressing the button didn't work and when I'd get one to stop the other would sense the first was going off and set the opposite one off). It was awful and I ended up smothering them in pillows until I got them to both be silent. Unfortunately this makes me dread testing them so I will be less likely to test them weekly until I buy ear plugs and feel particularly brave. Set up was fairly easy otherwise- you pick a number code to make them match and be unique in case neighbors in the vicinity have a similar set up. The codes have to be the same for them to interconnect. I used a screw to flip the numbers on/off for the unique code. They come with decent batteries, screws, dry wall anchors, etc. Set up took maybe 5 minutes. 2 minutes of it were a loud hell.

Matched my current wireless system!

Same system and MFR Model for ten year old home smoke alarm system. Had one of three fail so ordered a single replacement. Then after checking I realized two other units would be at end of life this same month. Purchased more and updated the complete wireless system for another ten years of coverage! Tested successfully for all units.

Great for older houses

I've been using this model for about 15 years and have 6 through out my house (built in 1850). It would be impossible to add a wired system so this was a great find. I've added them at various times so they need to be replaced every few years (the older ones in the rotation). They are a wireless device so they can drain batteries, I buy large quantities of batteries so I just change the (3) AAA every 6 months and call it a day.

So easy to install and worth the peace of mind.

I bought 3 of these because if one goes off, they all do. And to compliment CO2/Fire alarm units. The problem with wireless combo fire alerts is they usually only are only able to detect Ionization fires and not get burning fires. These are photoelectric. The combination helps you stay safe. I have one of these in our living room because we have a wood stove, one in my bdrm because it is furthest room from wood stove and one in detached garage. So far very happy with them and love they link together and if needed I can link several more to them. Have tested them from all the locations and they always all go of.
