Easy to use, but take some learning
So far so great! It is a bit of a learning curve from throwaway razors, but if you go slow and pay attention it's easy to use! Love that it's more sustainable then the other types and it's very pretty 😍

The only razor I can use
I have ultra-sensitive skin and this is the only razor I can use. I’m allergic to the lubricating strips on regular razors. It also feels so much less wasteful and is much cheaper! There’s a bit of a learning curve to not nick yourself, but it’s worth it for me.

DE razors don't really get better than this.
I've tried several different DE razors in my life. All have been fairly mid until I tried this one. I have been using it for 2.5 years now without any issues. It used to be called VIKINGS BLADE The Chieftain JR Double Edge Safety Razor, Meteorite Gray, so I'm guessing this is still the same product, not sure why it's for women suddenly as I'm a man & love this razor. The first great thing I noticed was the weight, it is very heavy which is what you want in a DE razor so you don't have to push or force it at all. The next thing was the grippy handle which is easy to manipulate even with soapy wet hands(I use soap to shave my face/head not cream). My only issue, which I'm sure is universal with DE razors, is the micro cuts when shaving my head. Our heads are fairly spherical & I am convinced, especially after reading reviews on ALL the highest rated DE razors out there, that it's just something none of them can really do properly. In 2 years I've NEVER had a single nick on my face or neck with this razor, but my scalp must just be vulnerable. I used multi-blade disposable razors before & rarely had head bleeds but even with those they do happen. A lot of reviews of other razors mention things like the razor not fitting the blade on correctly/symmetrically, the tightening screw wearing out after a year, breaking when being dropped, etc. but this razor is built tough, the razor always fastens down securely & tightly & although I haven't dropped mine this thing is metal AF & I highly doubt it'd break from something so minuscule.TL;DR: If all you need to shave is your face, absolutely get this razor. If you're a woman or want to shave your head with this, do so at your own risk but that'll be true for all DE razors no matter how "safe" or German they are.

Do it!
If you are on the fence about switching to a safety razor, just do it! I will say it took my twice as long as normal the very first time, but it was because I was scared of cutting myself (since I've never used a safety razor before). However, it really is a pretty easy switch from disposable razors. I suspect it will take me significantly less time the next time I use this razor because I have a feel for it now. Don't over think it. Take your time. It is hands-down the closest, smoothest, and softest shave I've ever had.

Super close shave, no-nonsense, economical and easier to use than I thought
I hate shaving! Who doesn't? I mean, it's a daily chore that, frankly I could do without! I find it interesting that companies who try to make money on that grind, like to refer to it as an "art". Like "let's go back to the nostalgic art of wet shaving!" What a crock! Just give me a razor so I can get this crap off my face!Recently when the manufacture of the razor I'd been using for years stopped making my twin-blade cartridges in favor of a 3 or 7-blade (seriously?) replacement that cost more than twice as much, I started shopping around and came across the rebirth of these old safety razors -- they're just like the ones I remember my dad using in the 70's! I watched several YouTube videos and read plenty of reviews before I finally decided to try them out.I bought this Viking razor because it was cheap, it's supposed to be intended for newbies like me, and it had good reviews. I paired it with a sleeve of 100 Falcon blades, a Viking shaving brush and a generic shaving bowl. The next morning I used them.First of all, should probably point out that I shave in the shower as the last part of my shower routine -- been doing it for years. It's just so much more convenient that way - my face is already wet, my beard has already been softening in the steam the whole time, and it saves the extra time and messy hassle of having to do it over the sink. I have a steam-proof mirror that suctions to the wall of the shower that has a little razor holder on the bottom which makes it crazy convenient. My first time shaving with this new razor took a LONG time! I was super careful to keep the angle of the head right (30-45 degrees) and gingerly took lots of small, short strokes. When I was done, I thought it was one of the closest shaves I'd ever had - but at what cost? It easily took more than twice as long to get the job done (does this mean I'm I destined to become a shaving artist, then?). But without a single cut or scrape, the next time I shaved I went a little faster, then a little faster after that, so that by the time I was on my 5-6th shave, I was back to my normal time. Change in anything takes a time to get used to - especially when you interrupt a routine you could normally do in your sleep, like shaving! I've now used the razor more than a dozen times and I'm only on my second blade that cost all of eleven cents, yet has provided me with wonderfully close shaves! I'm completely sold and not going back, sorry Gillette. As for the brush and bowl - well, they went back to Amazon. They just weren't for someone who had no time or was unwilling to make the chore of shaving an art. The badger brush (apparently if you're going to shave like an artist, your brush must be crafted from actual badger hair) was scratchy and the whole swirling thing in the bowl incessantly just seemed unnecessary and frankly, it took too long. When I shave, I use Noxema because shaving creams and soaps really dry out my skin, so at the risk of offending wet shaving aficionados who have nothing better to do than to dream about tomorrow morning's stare in the mirror, I just grab a little clump of Noxema, lather it up directly on my face with my HANDS (scandalously barbaric, I know) then get down to business.Bottom line: For me, this razor coupled with Falcon blades provides A VERY close shave in the same amount of time as it takes with an expensive multi-blade cartridge, but at a FRACTION of the cost.

An amazing razor…IF YOU FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS
I’m very thankful that I read both the good and bad reviews for this product, because the “bad” reviews taught me a lot about how I should approach using this razor, and I want to share that with anyone who might be interested in it.The most important thing you need to know: DO NOT treat this razor like a disposable razor. It is NOT like a disposable razor. You are dealing with a really sharp tool, and you need to treat both it and your skin with care. Read all of the instructions, and follow them to a T.I did the above, and I got the best shave I’ve ever gotten in my life. It’s already day 2, and I don’t feel even a hint of stubble. It took me a long time to finish the shave because I was so nervous, but once I got into the groove of it, it was very easy. I didn’t cut myself once.I’m so thankful, because this reusable razor is by far the most economically sustainable and climate-friendly razor I’ve ever used, and I’m really happy that I no longer have to invest in disposable razors that don’t work nearly as well.
