CNC Touch Probe Plate, X Y Z Axis Tool Setting, for Carbide Motion and Shapeoko 3

I wasn't sure if I really needed this probe tool, but I haven't regretted it for a second. It's half the price of the carbide model, but works identically to it. I like using carbide motion for my controller and this works flawlessly when zeroing the x, y, and z axis on my Shapeoko 3XXL. You can zero all three together, or only one axis if needed.The only tight squeeze I had was plugging the ground and the power wires to the control board. The plastic heads were very hard to slide on, but not because of this product, but because the plastic heads from the shapeoko wire harnesses seemed slightly too wide and were already crowding the space that these two wires had to connect to. I was just gentle and got everything hooked up with no trouble.It is a Time saver, but more importantly it gives me the precision I've been looking for on my projects

Maybe it's my ShapeokoXXL motherboard, but I connected it onto the probe connector like the post shows and it's intermittent. I ruined a project the first time I used it, so I tested it. I can get it to probe the Z but it doesn't work on the X and the Y. Is the aluminum block coated with something?? so disappointed that this didn't work for me. I guess i'm going to shell out 120 for the Carbide one. BummerSeller- I made sure my shapeoko XXL grbl software was the latest and greatest and I also made sure my Carbide Motion was up to date. Just an FYI, the Carbide Touch probe ($120) actually uses a different header (3-pin - as it has an LED and needs 5v). I used the header that is shown in your picture and is labeled 'probe'. Maybe this older probe header is disabled on the newest Shapeoko XXL. Since i don't know the pinout of the new header, I didn't want to chance plugging your touch probe in it. This is the only thing I can think of because all this thing does is toggle a bit.Also note, the 120 dollar Carbide touch probe only works with the latest carbide motion (416) and latest GRBL firmware (1.1), so makes me think, the old header has been disabled in software.UPDATE... What a great company this is. They sent me the newest version and it works GREAT.

Bought this for my Shapeoko 3 XXL, and it works without issue. Only small annoyance was having to squish the plug into the CNC mother board a little too tight for my liking, but for about half the price of the Carbide 3D one, it's worth the small annoyance.

The tolerances are quite good, it is exactly 22 mm on the Z axis, and 7 mm on the X / Y axes.The pin did not fit in my CNC machine, so I purchased some cheap breadboard jumper cables. I plugged one end of the jumper cables into my CNC machine, and the other end into the XYZ probe. It worked perfectly after that.I used painter's tape and super glue to semi-permanently attach the XYZ probe to a setup block. My bed is aluminum, so it was conducting electricity, causing the XYZ probe to short circuit. The setup block raises the XYZ probe above the bed, fixing that problem.I created a fence using a metal square, and I calibrate the XY to that fence. And I calibrate the Z relative to the bed, not relative to the blank. It is much more precise to calibrate the XYZ relative to the bed, instead of calibrating relative to the blank.Because I use a fence, and because I calibrate relative to the bed, that means I only need to do the XYZ calibration one time. I can take out the old blank and put in a new blank without doing any calibration. No more Z probing! This saves a lot of time, and also gives a more precise result.

Leaving the price difference out between this probe and the OEM.This probe absolutely stands out on its own.Easy to install.Works with zero issueThis upgrade has completely changed my workflow on the shapeoko 3 standard size .Less material waste, less frustration, better parts period.

I don't normally write reviews on Amazon (in fact, I think this is my first time...), but I was honestly insanely impressed with this touch probe. I have a 2020 Shapeoko 3 with the Z-Plus addition, and reached out immediately after purchase to get the adapter. i forgot i had a 3 pin connector laying around, so I actually pulled the pins out of the two pin connector this came with, and put them in the 3 pin to just get started.The XY&Z probing worked just fine without any issues, but where I am very happy with my purchase was my ability to use this with a DIY Bitsetter. I ended up purchasing a momentary switch on Amazon, and adjusted a file found on Thingiverse to 3D print a housing. After wiring everything up and testing it out, it worked flawlessly and I was able to save about $175 in total!

The unit says in the description that works with Shapeoko. My XXL has a three-pin header rather than a two-pin due to have the bitsetter device that requires a splitter. Disappointed that the device does not appear to work with my machine.*Update- I changed this from one star to five stars. Pat reached out to me and helped correct my issues. The probe was not at fault but rather me not using the probe correctly was causing the issue. Special Note: make sure your bit is within a 1/2 inch of the probe. The splitter is not required for the installation as there is a second probe port on the main board of the Shapeoko XXL. Thank you Pat!

Would of liked it to be a quite a bit chunky in the z axis, about half of what it is. Compared to the x and y axis measurements it seems out of balance..... JMO I did modify it to include a led indicator from another probe which originally came with my machine.
