This is a classic socket ratchet that will deliver decades of solid performance.
This is the classic SK ratchet (42 tooth) that has been delivering unbeatable reliability and performance for decades. SK first introduced this ratchet (in more less the same form you see here) back in the 1930's and it's still going strong today. The super chrome finish, and robust design guarantee this tool will give you decades of performance and durability. The mechanism is easily serviced (all ratchets can dry out and get dirty over time).SK makes a dual pawl mechanism that essentially doubles the tooth count if this ratchet, and you distinguish that model from this one because the selector switch is a different design.I have both round head ratchets, as well as pear head ratchets in my tool cabinet, each has it's own strengths and weaknesses. For most people, this is tool truck quality ratchet for less than half the price of most other tool truck ratchets.

Excellent 3/8 Ratchet!
If you're looking for a NICE 3/8 ratchet, you probably can't do much better than this model. Like the other SK ratchets I've recently bought, this thing has good heft to it and is smooth as glass. The knurled end of the handle is very well done and gives you very positive grip on the ratchet. I imagine this would work well for anyone that got it dirty or oily, although it's much to beautiful for me to be that careless with it.The ratcheting mechanism is quite fine and exceptionally smooth. I absolutely LOVE the sound of an SK round head ratchet click and if you buy one of these I think you'll agree. It's smooth, very quiet, very positively engaging and very comfortable in hand. Well balanced, -extremely- well polished and best of all it's still made in the USA (unlike most). This ratchet is easily one of my new favorite 3/8 ratchets (and I have a number of them!) and I'd gladly buy another or recommend it to anyone else looking for a good 3/8 ratchet (take a hint!).Buy one for yourself and see why people love SK ratchets so much, and why this particular design has been around for several decades. Put one in your hand you'll be sold on it, without a doubt.

Unsatisfied with seller, Zoro
All I received was an empty package. My notification to Zoro went unanswered, typical these days. I guess I donated to Zoro's bottom line this time. I love S-K tools, they are top quality.

Puts my craftsman ratchets to shame
I have a craftsman 3/8 ratchet that this tool replaced. This ratchet weighs about twice that of my old ratchet but its balanced so well that the weight is actually an advantage. This unit is fully rebuildable which was one of the main reasons I picked it but what surprised me was how tight the mechanism is. My old ratchet always had about 10 - 15 degrees of slop in it before it would click in which was one of the reasons I wanted to replace it. This ratchet has at max a few degrees of movement before it engages. There are three clicks for every one click on my old ratchet and it engages immediately. My only request might be a handle with a grip that was an inch longer but that might throw off the balance. Did I mention how well this ratchet is balanced? I would put this ratchet up against any brand. I've used family members snap on ratchets before and they are smoother but only minutely so. This is the best ratchet for the money I have ever owned. I'll be upgrading my 1/4 and 1/2 inch ratchets in the future.

Best ratchet of all time
Best ratchet of all time!! Solid, Crisp, rugged, perfect chrome, a classic. My Dad has owned one since the early 1970s, still works great, got a free repair kit from SK. This mechanism is a dual pawl system unlike a lot of ratchets that have a dial and one pawl at the bottom. After searching for some time for a good ratchet, I still came back to buy this classic tool.

VERY GOOD TOOL AND PRICE
Very smooth and quality tool. The only reason I did not give it a five is because I used it as a replacement tool for a 3/8 drive I lost some years ago to complete my SK tool set I have had for over 20 years and the knurling does not seem as quite as nice as my 1/2 inch drive. I may be being a little too critical (these used to come in metal boxes It is all plastic nowadays). I still like them better than my USA made Craftsman.Overall this is a very good quality tool and a better price on AMAZON than going to the next town to buy it from Granger.

Awesome ratchet!
I'm a huge USA made tools fan, and SK is one of the best in my opinion. My dad has a couple of these same ratchets he's had for 20+ years and they still work perfectly. SK tools are great because they are much more affordable than Snap-on or Matco, but still give excellent quality. I would highly recommend this product and all SK tools.
