I haven't had this long enough to see how it lasts outdoors for a season, but so far, so good. I got it to keep a garden gate tight, and it does that (although 3 feet would have been better for me). It's been through several rain storms, and hasn't shown any rust. Not much pressure on it, so I can't judge that. I'd say it would also help kids from opening up things that they shouldn't. No problem getting a small lock through the links.

I installed this cable to stop thieves from stealing my trolling motor. Works great so far.

I'm using this to run through both sleeves of my motorcycle jacket, then through the chin bar on the helmet. Both sit on the passenger seat when I don't feel like carrying either.

I bought this to secure my front and rear bike wheels, as they both are quick release. Having the rear wheel stolen, is a huge expense! The bike is always locked with a heavy Kryptonite U-lock, and the cable easily slips onto the U-lock with it's big end loops.

I suspect that this is not a high security item, but then I bought it to use inside.
