Q: Rear projection tv with component connections. buying roku -ultra. will a hdmi cable between roku and converter degrade video? stick would be better?

I have a Roku 3. The quality seems fine when it is working. My main problem I am trying to figure out is that the output from the Roku seems to be higher than what the converter can handle. I tried setting the output of the Roku to 720pi and it seems to work better. This converter claims to do 1080 though so I am hoping to figure that out. When it is at 1080 the video flashes black a few times every half hour or so. The audio keeps working, but the video goes out. After a few flashes it is back to normal again though for a while. It's not hard to deal with, just a little annoying.

Here's the deal if your tv has component input it will. Take the HDMI out from the DVD player and connect to the HDMI input on the easycell. Use a component cable from the easycell and connect to the component input on your tv. Component cables have 5 plugs on them. Red, blue and green are video. White and red plugs are audio. Both the easycell and tv have those plugs color coded to those colors. Easy.

Q: Is there a way to turn off "on screen display"? It pops up randomly to display output/input resolution. Very annoying.

I have the same problem but only see it on my connection to PBS via ROKU. The front button seems to change the resolution to something that does not work on my setup so that is not a on/off switch but a resolution changer.

If both the computer and Dell monitor support other resolutions Like 1920x1080 or lower, this converter might work. If you’re not able to switch the native resolution of 1920x1200, chances are the converter won’t recognize it and you’ll get a black screen
