JVCC EX-17 Steel Desk Top Tape Dispenser: 2 in. wide (Blue/Grey)

I pack packages and was tire of using the rolling mechanism to dispense tape. I wanted something to dispense it like how my scotch tape is dispense. This is it, it functions as a tape dispenser for my packing tape. It is Sturdy and heavy duty constructed except for the little plastic piece (you see it in the picture orange piece) that covers the sharp edges of the dispenser. This piece is very flimsy and it broke during shipping. I would of sent it back but I didnt think it was that big of deal but that knocks this product down 1 star.The other problem is with the flow of the tape. It gets stuck and sometimes when I pull it too fast. The reason why it gets stuck is because the tape sometimes comes off the rolling mechanism there is no locking mechanism to keep the roll of tape there. Also there is a large piece of plastic between roll of the tape to the cutting device, it is to keep the tape from sagging but what it does is the tape has a habit of rubbing against this piece of plastic and it gets stuck because the tape is sticky. So the flow knocks this to a 3 star product.All in in the product is okay.

Well made item, nice and heavy very stable and secure. Only reason I gave it one star off is that there is no tension adjustment for the tape. So if you have some really easy pulling tape you often end up with a much longer piece than you want. It has 2 bridges that hold the tape for you to reach in and grab it. My tape is very sticky and holds on the them pretty hard, so I have to give it an extra tug, which often times means I spool off too much tape. Perhaps it's just a learning curve and I will get used to how this works.

I had and still have a load of packing to do and got very frustrated about the logistical difficulties and egregious waste involved in sealing boxes with a roll of tape in one hand and a scissor in the other.Every office I ever worked in had a thing like this. It works like a third hand because it's nice and heavy, and this one has a lovely, dense, incredibly-soft foam pad on the bottom that both protects my desk and seems to create a bit of suction, which makes it even more stable and comfortable to use.My initial hesitation about buying this had to do with the idea of spending twenty bucks on a tape dispenser, but the quality is outstanding, and it quickly paid for itself by eliminating all the waste from tangled tape.

Pro:1. It works well and cuts the tape as it is suppose to.Cons:1. Expensive2. The tape guard is annoying as it must be down to be able to cut. Some might find this a nice feature if you have kids running around.3. You have to have it at the front of a table or desk. The only way to cut the tape is to pull downward, you can't really do that if this is at the back of the desk and you want to cut a stripe of tape longer than 6 inches.

This is a very good product, but could be a little better ...IF it was even heavierIF there was a latch to keep the tape spool from popping upIf the whole thing was about one half inch wider so that the tape would not need to be centered perfectlyAND while I am at it, it would be even more awesome if it had a way to help muffle the sound.Don't get me wrong, this is a very good product, but it could be a little better.

I have a small fabrics and patterns shop and purchased this item for my business because I just couldn't get the hang of a tape gun. I'm so happy with this purchase. With the tape gun, I felt like it was handling me whereas this allows for cutting more precise lengths of tape. The cost is very reasonable, it's weighty enough that I can handle it with ease as I'm taping up packages, the tape is easy to load and my packages look so much better. I also save because I'm not wasting so much tape--with the tape gun, the tape was folding on and sticking to itself. For people like me who tend to be less coordinated, definitely buy this. Wish I had thought to look for this alternative much earlier. Highly recommend!

This tape dispenser is exactly what I've always wanted. I do a lot of online selling, so I'm forever packing and shipping items. The cheap plastic dispensers that come with most tape are useless because the tape keeps falling back and sticking to the roll. I can't use one of the large (industrial type) tape dispensers because I have arthritis in my hands which makes those dispensers hard to hold. This is the perfect solution for me. It holds the packing tape securely and unrolls easily. The cutting edge works just fine for me, and I love the fact that this one is heavy so I don't have to worry about it falling off my packing table.

I really liked this item at first(definitely five stars). It is sturdy and has rubber on the bottom so that when I pull the tape the dispenser doesn't move. It works great if you pull of a short length of tape. But, when you pull off a strip of 8" or more the tape doesn't seem to come smoothly off the roll(although the dispenser remains stationary which is great).
