.com Juan Luis Guerra takes another look at his long, successful career on Colección Romántica, a lavish, two-disc affair that finds the Dominican Republic native revisiting and remixing some of his most successful songs. The collection's 20 tracks could have arguably fit on only one CD, especially considering that Guerra has already released two greatest-hits albums in 1994 and 1996. Still, this is a compulsively listenable affair, marked by Guerra's trademark dabbling in jazz harmonies, African music, and pop flavors. The collection's first five tracks--"Tú," "Razones," "Ay Mujer," "Quisiera," and "Amor de Conuco"--have been transformed from their original salsa and merengue versions into polished ballads. The trick works, and it sets the exotic, candlelit mood that figures throughout the album. Other hits such as "Burbujas de Amor" and "Bachata Rosa" have never sounded better, thanks to studio remastering. Even if Guerra's previous hits albums are already in your library, Colección Romántica deserves a prime spot on the shelf. --Joey Guerra

If Romance is what you seek, Juan Luis Guerra fulfills in spades on this collection of poetry and song that stands as a testament to the greatest living poet-songwriter in the world. Guerra is a muse for anyone who has ever hummed a song of love, and examples of greatness abound here - "Burbujas de Amor" "Como Abeja al Panal" and a dozen other songs - are proof positive of this legend's incredible lyrics, at once emotional and vibrant. Please Juan Luis, give us more orginals in the months ahead - we miss your incomparable style and words. Extremely disappointing! Romantic does not have to mean lame. Most arrangements are plain, pop-generic, soulless. With a few exceptions the energy and rhythm are not there. If you want candle-like music, JLG would never be my first choice to start with, that is not what made him great - pastelero a tus pasteles!

The Best Ever Collection of my Favorite Songs!!!!
This is worth the money and worth to listen to. Nobody comes close when it comes to his music. All the songs are cool and some change a bit. If you want to listen to his greatest songs ever I recommend you buy this for that special person. I bought it for that special reason and every one should because 4:40 Rules Baby.!!!!!You should listen to all of them espically song#1 on the second CD/Tape because that my favorite of all time and always will be.

Growing up all my family played a lot salsa and merengue. The one artist that caught my ear was this man Juan Luis Guerra. His poetic verses are really deep. His love songs probably is responsible for the babies of the 90's. If you love Hispanic music then look no further and buy this greatest hits and enjoy. Your Welcome

Easy-paced but a great introduction to the Dominican genius
You don't have to be a closet salsa aficionado to appreciate Juan Luis Guerra. His Manhattan Transfer-like (and consequently less interesting) origins have been cast aside as in subsequent releases he's embraced a range of international styles (for a great African-Salsa crossover get your hands on 'Fogarate'). He's best known for his international hit 'Bachata Rosa' with its combination of great dance and romantic numbers - but this compilation, with the emphasis on the more relaxed and melodic, updates a couple of tracks (most notably 'Quisiera' from 1998's 'Ni es lo mismo ni es igual' - which goes from salsa to west-coast AOR), features a rousing live version of 'Estrellitas y Duendes' from the aforementioned 'Bachata Rosa' and gives 'Senales de Humo' an opportunity for wider reception - a track that combines all that is best from JLG, magical lyrics, mesmerising rhythm and a fantastic hook. Got to have it!

El producto es perfecto, mi desagrado fue que el producto llegó 25 días después de la compra, lo que me parece excesivo, considerando que se cobró un envío alto y no estaba tan lejos como para justificar ese tiempo.
