Nice and tidy, lots of fun, but hard to categorize and I hoped for either solid funk/fusion or swinging jazz but neither quite happened. Ironically, my favourite track is the Mahler featuring fretless bass.

I really enjoy the music.

Glad I got this one - been a fan of Erskine from Weather Report days and his genius shines through as usual.

Very reminiscent of Weather Report. I love the eq on Peter's drums, especially the bass drum.

For any follower of Peter Erskine, this will be a 'must have' recording mixing as it does his superlative percussion with some great ensemble playing. I'm never quite sure how to describe the other players, if drummers, bass players and guitarists are 'sidesmen' in jazz parlance, what are the others when the drummer is the leader? But PE leads in a very subtle way. Unlike some drummer-lead groups this isn't about drumming pyrotechnics, it's mainly about good musicians making good music with occasional drum/percussion interludes.The 'Weather Report' influence looms quite large but that said, for me as a drummer and a huge fan of PE, the CD is excellent, just very good musicians playing with one if the greatest contemporary drummer/percussionists currently working today.

Zawinul comme "Bourges Buenos Aires" (inédit) ou "Speechless" (Weather Report), une autre de Peter Erskine "Northern Cross" (Steps Ahead, 1983), que des pépites.Un disque moderne, sans regarder en arrière mais en pensant modernité, Peter s'entourant de John Beasley (kbds), Bob Sheppard (ts), Janek Gwizdala (elb), Jeff Parker (g), Larry Koonse (solo g on "Sprite"), Aaron Serfaty (perc), Jack Fletcher (voice), des pointures aux oreilles grandes ouvertes.Ce n'est pas un disque pur de batteur avec des soli interminables (suivez mon regard ...), non, ici place à la musique, au groove et au feeling unique, Peter Erskine (dm) étant musicien avant tout, la batterie au service de la musique (et non l'inverse), contrairement à beaucoup de batteurs qui n'ont rien compris ... Ne pas oublier que Peter Erskine a été biberonné à ses débuts aux big bands (Stan Kenton, Maynard Ferguson), cela s'entend et s'écoute !En résumé, un superbe disque de Fusion moderne, élégant, mélodique avec toujours une patte de Jazz évidemment, à acheter les yeux fermés ! Et pour les amoureux du drumming du Sieur Erskine, un sympathique autocollant de la caricature (ou dessin ?...) de Peter, lunettes sur le front et bonnet vissé sur la tête, jouant sur son nouveau kit Tama de couleur jaune (clin d'œil à Tony Williams ?...), un must !

Bel disco del maestro Peter Erskine. Bravi anche gli altri musicisti. Si apprezza a mio parere ascoltandolo con attenzione. Consigliato.

一曲目終りから二曲目にかけてジーッというノイズが入ります(ヘッドホンで聞くと顕著に分かる)。盤の不具合か録音上の問題なのか...音楽は素晴らしいのに、ちょっと有り得ないですね。
