Beautiful; great value for the money, highly functional, great customer service response/actions
I bought the 2 L, 3 L, and the 5 L barrels. They match beautifully, and I love seeing them on my mantle piece. I now have the 2 L aging 1.75 L of right good bourbon, correction, that’s a blended Canadian whiskey. I saved a sample of the original to taste tested after several weeks. The 2 L barrel arrived with a crack in the spigot, which rendered it non-functional due to the leaking. I contacted the company, and Sophia is not only sent me one gratis, they sent me two! I don’t think that they are manufactured/fabricated to feel like this, you know how wood is, natural product and very easy for such a crack to develop in a small hardwood piece that has been drilled into. The other two replacements look fantastic. I highly recommend these barrels over all the others… I did order a couple of others but send them back because I was not satisfied with the aesthetics, for the price! By the way, I follow the about how to break them in and get them to stop leaking and they worked, do not leak now, and it happened with just within hours. Now it’s been a few weeks and there has not been a leak in any of the three. Love them! Can I say anymore? Just ask questions!

Very well made casks
I bought two one liter casks to finish some Scotch whisky. One is being seasoned with Tawny Port and the other with Oloroso Sherry. One cask had a very slow leak for a couple of days that sealed up on its own. The other cask had no leaks at all. I have a bottle of Ardbeg 10 Year Old that will be going into the Port cask, and a bottle of Glen Grant 12 Year Old that is slated for the Sherry Cask. The casks will not be ready for whisky for about another 3 or 4 weeks. Looking forward to the results. Very pleased with the build quality of the casks.

Beautiful… seller responsive
I got one of these, and it leaked HORRENDOUSLY! Luckily, the seller was great to work with. They sent me some barrel wax to use in an attempt to solve the problem before sending a new barrel. Unfortunately l, it still didn’t fix the leak, so they sent a new barrel. The new barrel is holding water MUCH better so far…. Only one day, but I could immediately see a difference. It looks like a few slots are glued, and I’m not sure if that’s normal for a barrel…. But hey, so far it looks like it’s working haha. I’m not sure what the flavor will be like, but it smells pretty good, so I’m excited to find out. I’ll update the review in a few days regarding the water tightness of the container!

Well crafted
I bought this barrel before I was actually ready to use it. Some of the instructions suggested that it must be filled and seasoned immediately upon receipt, but the instructions that came with the barrel said it was okay to wait a couple months before filling. I started seasoning my barrel about a month after receipt and it has been drip-free from the first time I filled it with water. Although I followed the seasoning process, refilling and wetting the barrel daily for three days, it is hard to tell that there has been any change. I worry a little about how long the bung stopper will hold up as the leather wrap that seals the hole seems like it wants to squish and deform each time I pull it out. However I have smoothed it out and easily pressed it back into the hole with no problems so far. And for long term storage I will not be removing the bung often, so I think it will be fine. I can’t wait to order and fill a few more barrels.

Leaks when the bands begin to rust
I ordered this last year. I followed the instructions about putting water in the barrel to allow the wood to swell and all that. Everything seemed fine. Put whisky in the cask in July. Around September I noticed some rusting on the bands on the top put did not think much about it. This was resting on the stand it came with on the bar cart. It was full of whisky as it was more of a fun display piece/something we can use over the holidays. At Christmas I noticed it was about half full and figured the men drank it. Last week I went to rearrange the bar cart and noticed the whole bottom of the metal bands were rusted. Not only that but the wood rotted and leaked all over the cart. The barrel was completely empty. I don't know what happened but the pour spout in the front I think is where the problem started which made the bands wet. The spout fell off when I touched the barrel and the wood is very disintegrated. The barrel basically fell apart in my hands. So, in two months of use there was already an issue. I just didn't realize how bad the issue was. I guess if you buy this make sure you babysit the thing to make sure it doesn't decide to leak.

Mine was completely leak free.
I was a bit worried about some of the reviews mentioning leaking, but I needed a new cask to age my bourbon and rolled the dice. I am glad I did. I rinsed the keg upon receipt and got out some of the nasty char chunks that are typical of a charred barrel. I then filled it with tap water and let it sit for two days to allow the wood to absorb the water and swell the wood. A few drips sealed up within the first hour or two. After that, no leaks. On the third day I emptied the barrel and filled it with the hottest water in from the tap. I let it sit another 24 hours, and the resulting seal was so tight I could not get water out of the spigot without first loosening the bung/cork. After that, I emptied the water out and refilled with my blend of lower-grade bourbons that use the same mash bill as the higher end ones. I also added a couple of whole coffee beans to give the bourbon a little bitterness and complexity and maybe 2ml of cherry flavored bitters to enhance the flavor. It has been two months and I am impressed with both the barrel and the improvement in flavor in my whiskey. I have the 5L barrel, and suspect I will need to lay the whiskey down for close to a year. But the barrel has not leaked a single drop and I am very impressed.

The Barrell quality is not great, the base the taps and the accessorioes are poor to be generous
Barrell OK not awesome, the base and the taps and accessories are very poor, to actually include them was a mistake as it does not represent any form of quality just that they had no problem exhibiting cheapness
