Gamakatsu Octopus Hook-Pack 100pcs 2/0 Size Silver Needle Point High Carbon Steel Hooks

I love these hooks I never miss a fish with these hooks. I use the 7/0 for striper fishing they work perfectly every time. I’ll be buying more and the price is very good for the quality.

These hooks landed me 8 big kings using 40# test and a bunch of halibut using 100# test in Alaska this past June. Better than the cheap rubber hooks I usually buy. They will be a staple in my tackle box

I've been using the Gamakatsu octopus hooks just about exclusively the last few years when I'm fishing live baits for catfish. I like the size 7/0 and 8/0 the best for the size baits I'm using (palm sized sunfish, small bullheads). I've heard a few anglers tell stories about hooks that broke fighting large fish...I think maybe in the 35 pounds and up class.I haven't experienced any issues personally, I think they do really well. I like the sharpness out of the package very much, they have a really nice point. I never touch them up unless I've been using one a while. They are more expensive than some hooks, but once you're buying hooks in sizes 7/0 and 8/0 they do get pricey. And better to use a quality hook like Gamakatsu, Eagle Claw, or Tru-Turn than trying to save money with some off-brand hooks.In particularly, I think the wide-gap helps with hooking fish. I actually fish them like a circle hook where I'll leave the rod in the holder and wait for it to load up before reeling down and then fighting the fish. I'm not big a fan of khale hooks, so these octopus hooks are a great wide-gap option available in large enough sizes for bigger baits.

Great hooks and man are they sharp. Use them for bottom fishing for rock fish in the South Pacific. Excellent hooks...

good size for larger shad, smaller pieces of skipjack , or creek chubs/suckers when catfishing. i would also recommend gamakatsu octopus circle hooks, just remember don't set the hook hard if at all on a circle hook.
