My Kind of Christmas: A Holiday Romance Novel (A Virgin River Novel, 18)

A lovely Christmas romance
So. My Kind of Christmas. I love Christmas in Virgin River! As the book says.. the town is only little on the outside. Inside though, they're brimming with spirit, love, and heart. And Carr does an amazing job at showing just that. The families. The friends. The community that comes together. They don't have a lot financially but they make up for it by being there for one another no matter what. Add Christmas into the mix and it's truly magical. The quick of it is that Angie and Patrick have both been through incredibly traumatic experiences and they need time away from their regular lives to figure out what they're going to do with their futures. With family in the area and access to remote cabins where they can unwind and think things through it sounds like the perfect Christmas escape.Alright. So the issues at hand.Angie: She nearly died in a terrible car accident. One that shook her up and left her with months of intense therapy. She's wanting to DO something with this second chance at life. Wanting to give back now instead of returning to medical school. And her mother just can't let it go.Patrick: Is a Navy pilot and recently lost his best friend in a crash. One he witnessed and is struggling with. He's got a major case of survivors guilt, PTSD, and is faced with a major decision to either stay in the Navy and have even more responsibility and people under his watch or to get out now.So. Some pretty heavy things, yeah? But it's not a terribly heavy book, really! There's humor and heat and fun too as they work through their issues over a few weeks vacation. And kinda have a Winter Fling after meeting at a bar their first night in town, hitting it off and deciding to spend the time they have in Virgin River getting to know each other...intimately.Much to the dismay of family...This just cracked me up. Angie is in her early 20s and her poor uncle Jack (hero from book one) is having a hard go with her being an adult...Okay so these two. I really loved them. I liked that they were dealing with similar decisions about their futures. That they were able to help each other heal and find a little peace. The chemistry and heat between them. They had different career paths and responsibilities and a pretty big age gap (around 10 years) but they worked. I was so rooting for them to figure out a way to have more than just a Winter Fling. But I even liked the set up. There were never any real issues between them other than knowing they had a limited time together to enjoy what they had together. So you got to see them just being them together. Enjoying and getting to know each other and having a good time. It was a different vibe but I loved it.My Kind of Christmas was a lovely time. It had me laughing out loud in parts and getting a little teary eyed in others. And it definitely left me in the Christmas spirit as two very special people found more than what they were ever expecting to find during their winter escapes.

Missing book?
Dear Robyn, i purchased almost the whole series of your "A Virgin River" novels but noted that there is no book 8? is this a deliberate act to leave out this number? "A Virgin River" series run up to book 20 without a book 8. I simply love "A Virgin River" series especially Jack Sheridan and his wife, Melinda.........but then so are the rest of the books in the series are also equally interesting. Will you be writing more books to this series. thank you very much for such wonderful novels!

"My Kind Of Story"
In Virgin River, the Riordan brothers are known to be rough and tumble guys. However, Patrick does not follow the traits of his brothers. Patrick is gentle, sweet-natured, and has an easy going attitude. He's a Navy fighter pilot on extended leave. He's had some depressive war experiences as a result of losing a close friend in Afghanistan. Now he just wants to settle back and have contentment until he returns to a mission. But he wants a devoted, loving wife at the same time. So does Angie LeCroix want a relaxing Christmas at Virgin River away from her demanding mother. But it's her Uncle Jack Sheridan who is not much different from her mom and wants her to stay away from the Riordan boys. It doesn't take long before the gossip builds about Patrick and Angie. I love these cozy, well written, warmhearted stories by this author. They enthrall me and dinner is always late when I'm reading them. Highly recommend this story.

Another great masterpiece from Robyn Carr!
I have read every single book by Robyn Carr up to this point. I have loved every single one of them, and this one was no exception. When I pick up a story written by Robyn Carr, it's always feels like I'm coming home to visit family & friends that I've come to know and love over the years. I love the small town atmosphere, and I also love the way the people look after one anther there, too. My problem...is that I always become sort of depressed towards the end of each story, because I know I'll have to wait months before I get to visit with them all again. *sigh*"The Riordan brothers may have a reputation for being rough-and-tumble, but Patrick has always been the gentle, sweet-natured one. These days, his easygoing manner is being tested by his high-octane career as a navy pilot. But for the Riordan brothers, when the going gets tough...the tough find the love of a good woman." This says it all as far as the Riordan men go. They might be a tough bunch, but then again...they don't get any tougher than the Sheriden bunch.Patrick, the youngest of the Riordan bunch, comes to town to try to get his head together after the loss of his best friend in a combat zone. He personally witnessed his friend being shot down, while they were on a very important mission overseas. He feels guilty about the death of his friend, since he was the man in charge on that particular mission. He's torn between full filling his promise he had made to his best friend to take care of his wife and young son, should anything happen to him, or acting on the unexpected love he's found with Jack Sheridan's young niece, Angie LeCroix.Angie LeCroix comes to town just a week after Patrick. She's there for two reasons. One is to escape her over-protective & domineering mother, and the second reason is to try to figure out what she really wants to do with her life in the future. When she goes to the bar to check in with Jack, she spots Paddy and is instantly attracted to him. Jack notices the attraction between the two and tries to warn her away from the youngest of the Riordan brothers. Jack knows Paddy is experiencing major problems of his own, and he wants his niece nowhere near him.Besides that...Jack also knows first hand just how irresistible the Riordan brothers can be. He's watched many woman in town swoon over all of the older brothers in town, before they found themselves falling prey to their admissions.Paddy has been warned by not only Jack, but also by his own brother's, to leave Angie alone. Try as he might, he just can't do it and neither can Angie. Their attraction to one another is just too strong to deny. Both of them go into the relationship knowing the complete score, and they vow from the start...not make any promises to each other about the future.. That doesn't mean they both won't end up being very hurt, when it's time for them to part ways.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~I thought it was so dang funny, when both their families suddenly show up in town. Trying to find time to spend alone together without family interruptions....It was so hysterical!I may be a little selfish, but I beg you ROBYN CARR....PLEASE, PLEASE don't make me wait months and months for the next book in this series to hit the stand. PLEASE????Would i recommend this book? You better bet I would, in a heart beat!

Compelling
Compelling Stand-alone that is both easy to follow and difficult to put down. No violence or drag-you-down drama.Intriguing storyline with some focus on PTSD. Thought-provoking sub plots and a happily ever after.Believable characters with distinct personalities. Entertaining and snarky dialogue.I will continually re-read this series.

Amazing series
It seems just a short while since I started reading this series, and now I have reached the end of the biggest book I have been unable to put down. I will miss all the characters I have grown to love, is it really the end...

A Fitting End !
A very nice finish to the end of the series where the two main characters have to confront and accept their feelings . It is in the same vein as all the others encompassing all the characters past and present. I am so sad though that I have come to the end of these books. I have been reading them on and off for year or so.
