E-Z Block Surface Mounting Block

Great solution for mounting a smaller exterior light to a wall with vinyl siding. As you can see in the photos, I bought a shallow electrical box and trimmed it to follow the profile of the mounting block. The standard opening in the block gave a snug fit to hold the electrical box. This gave me something to mount the lantern mount onto. Then screwed both to the wall with 3 1/2” screws, through the electrical box and into the material behind the siding.The block itself needs to be held in place by the fixture, or the method I used. As you can see in the photos, it fits the profile perfectly, and the color matched my 20 year old light grey siding.

It's just a tad lighter than my gray siding, but close enough! The knockout is for a full-size switch box, but left un-knocked out, it works perfect for my video doorbell! On the other side from the camera view, I've sealed with silicone and that gives it a nice finished touch.
