Great sound once I got all the gear
Bought this to record audio versions of my books. I didn't know anything about audio before starting this project, so I didn't realize I would need phantom power. I also needed a splitter/4-pole adapter to get any of my devices to receive signal from it. I actually hooked it up and was talking into it, not realizing my iPhone was just using its built-in mic and sending "monitor" signal to the headphone jack where the mic was plugged in!So, here's my experience: my iPad wouldn't listen to it without the adapter. My iPhone wouldn't listen to it without the adapter. My Macbook wouldn't listen to it without the adapter. Once I got the adapter, all I got was a super annoying thu-thu-thu-thu-thu sound--not picking up any voice. But then when I got a Phantom Power supply, it all started working and sounded great. Since I accidentally did all those recordings with the built-in mic, I know: it's worth getting this microphone for way better sound! If you've read the sales page and thought, "Hm, phantom power not needed for all devices," (as I did), you can go the slow way and keep ordering pieces and waiting for them to come. But it seems that, if you're plugging this into a 3.5mm jack, you're probably going to need phantom power. Apparently the voltage delivered by those jacks does vary, but there's a good chance yours doesn't deliver 5V, let alone 48. I believe the devices they're talking about where you don't need it are pieces of audio equipment that deliver their own phantom power, like a pre-amp or mixer. (Seller, feel free to correct me if I'm wrong about that!)Aside from the sound, this microphone looks great and feels solid. Nothing about it seems cheap to me. I'm glad I bought it.

Probably a great microphone, but lots of background static
The microphone has a lot of static. I forced myself to write a 4 star review because I suspect my laptop may somehow be responsible for the static, despite it being a pretty good laptop with a good sound card. I'm just not totally sure. From what I read, the culprit appears to lie with the 3.5mm jack connector the microphone comes with. Apparently this type of microphone jack will commonly produce static because it doesn't have the solid connection that other interfaces have. I tried using the free software Audacity, as well as the paid software, Adobe Audition, as an attempt to remove the static to no avail. The noise reduction features only caused my voice to sound distorted or having an echo. I removed all possible sound in my environment (turned off the A/C (I'm in Florida; it's hot in November), the ceiling fans, and any other white noise I could locate in my house), and the static had no change whatsoever. It's just a steady hiss. So, I don't know if it's the microphone, or the environment that causes the static, but I think I'm going to return the microphone because I've attempted to eliminate every possibility on my computer's end and there was no change whatsoever.

Didn't work without phantom power
**Updated**Just got this Mic yesterday (Earamble) and hooked it up straight to my PC Mic jack on the motherboard. Unfortunately it doesn't pick up my voice.. at all. Even when I yell at it. Purchased a phantom power to try it again which should be here tomorrow. Assuming that will fix it and I'll update this either way. If it doesn't ill have to return it. Part of it was a little loose when I got it so maybe it is just defective but ill find out when I try the phantom power.**Got my phantom power this morning, hooked it up and now the mic works great. Not defective at all, just didn't have enough power coming from my motherboard to get it going. It sounds substantially better with the phantom power. I will definitely be keeping this as it is a big upgrade from just using my headset mic, even just as a plug and play without any changes to any settings on my computer. I absolutely suggest getting a 48v phantom power supply with this microphone to be able to get a real sense of how it works. (I picked up the Ohuhu phantom power supply, so far so good.)

High quality and amazing value! Couldn't be happier with this mic!
I work from home a lot, and my company uses Google Meet a lot. I got tired of using headphones all day, and I got so many complaints about my webcam picking up noise from my keyboard becoming a distraction to others on the call. I bought this microphone, with the Earamble Boom Scissor Mic Arm Stand. Once I paired the mic with the "MillSO Headphone Splitter Adapter - 3.5mm 4 Pole Splitter Audio Jack Y Cable (3.5mm Stereo Male to 2x 3.5mm Female)" everything worked great (my laptop has a single headphone/mic jack). Now I plug in the mic + soundbar speaker, raise the mic above the level of my head and point it upward. Although people can still hear me typing, they say it doesn't distract them or override my voice as I'm talking. They appreciate the high-quality sound that this mic produces because it doesn't pick up every noise in the house (have you ever heard background noise on a conference call that made you laugh?). My coworkers are all envious when they see my mic in the frame, and think that I spent way more on it than I did.

you'll be fine. But most computers today (I'm using a Surface ...
So this is a little bit misleading. Bout this months ago, and should've known it wouldn't be as simple as I expected. If you have an audio jack on your computer, you'll be fine. But most computers today (I'm using a Surface pro 2017) don't and only have one jack which required an additional piece for the audio jack, AND the 40V phantom power jack. So....not really $20. If you wanna make it sound legit, it's gonna run you $55-60.

Doesn't Fit ANY Phone
Mic sounds great, its a little quiet and it cant pickup good far away, but if you have a mixer or an app, you can make it louder. It still picks up good about a foot and a half away. It doesn't fit ANY phone. This mic uses a trs plug. You have to buy a trs to trrs adapter for it, trrs is a cord that has 3 rings around the end, a trs has only 2, phones need a trrs. A good adapter costs around $15. I messaged the seller and told them that it doesn't work on phones, they gave me $6 partial refund and claimed responsibility. So A++++ on customer support. Overall, very happy with my microphone!!!

Mount not worth it ...mic worth it....
I compared it to the neewer nw-700, it's better in my opinion running both in the same mixer on the same setting, gave me 2 different sounds this mic seams to put out 1db- 2db more for bass and for mid and hi ranges seam to capture smoothly and around the same as the nw-700. It is super sensitive but it still needs 48v phantom power to run on my pc. It dose not supply its own preamp system off the aux to xlr it comes with, you need a interface with 48v phantom power if your going to use it on older or cheaper devices. Also I recommend using a cloud filter to lift the sound out a little and clean it up . All around you get what you pay for this is a good product I would recommend this and the neewer nw-700 to new artists and pod cast enthusiasts alike also it pics up vocals great just don't scream into it, I am using it as a secondary for guitar recording on my acoustic guitar. Was not impressed with the shock mount recommend buying a proper mount for this mic so be prepared for disappointment in the shock mount but really your buying a mic that comes with a free mount so yeah... just saying. So due to the shock mount you lost a star. Mwahaha.... good job at this mic Earamble. Your mounts need work though.

A+
I bought this mic on sale for $12.99 to replace a $200 mic that stopped working out of warranty. To be honest, I don't hear a sound difference. Very happy with my purchase.
