It's a great detector when you're just trying to 'test the waters'
It's a great detector when you're just trying to 'test the waters', as it were, with regards to the whole metal detecting hobby. It's sensitive enough for deep pulls (when dialed in correctly) and plenty of bubble gum wrappers. It's light enough. One of the above comments said it takes 8 AA batteries but mine only takes 1 9V battery. Guessing the models vary a bit.

Sound detection is useless
The noise does not get more and less intense depending on how close you are to the metal object . it just beeps once basically whether you're right over it Karma or next to it, this thing is pretty much useless. goes beep and the needle moves but just once until you pass over it again. The sound does not stay until you move away from it like you would think it would! Also the metal discrimination switching from Iron to non-ferrous Metals is a joke , makes the same stupid beep whether you're over copper or iron does it make any difference. I bought it to find manhole covers and curb stop shut offs under the snow. You could hold it right over a huge steel manhole and it will just go beep once. It will also go beep once if you hold it over a penny there's no intensity in the sound which makes it completely useless.
