My kids adore Wimpy kid.
Any and all Wimpy kid books are adored by my 9 year old son, and my elder son also loved them when he was that age. Perfect present for a boy aged 7-10ish who likes to read, or who might be a reluctant reader. I'd be surprised if this didn't get him into reading.

7 year old little boy, emerging reader loves this!
My little boy has been listening to the audible books for about 6 months and watching the series and film but has just taken off with his reading and is devouring the wimpy kid collection. This keeps him busy in the car and all of his friends now have it. Recommend this purely for the distraction and activity factor. It has helped him move on with reading by himself .
