I remember all e scenes....
I was born in 1938 and lived in the seventh precinct. I believe I knew some of the characters mentioned. The book brought back many memories. So you know in those days we only looked at the good the cops did and ignored the bad. God bless them all.

Not great....an act of contrition perhaps
I can certainly see the reason why Daly wrote the book, contrition and a perhaps as a crutch or way to rationalise his betrayal of the badge. I cannot condone his actions nor can I admire his lack of cooperation as some sort of heroism. Worth reading though not a great tale.

Another good cop gone bad story.
Good read but I thought it dragged on longer than need be.I found no reason to justify any praise of any crooked cop.Public servants gone bad are bad to begin with, which is the case here. From day one,Just because he occasionally did a good job does not justify violating the oath that he took.

A good read.
An interesting and insightful read into the life of an ex police officer from a different era. A very honest and in lots of ways sad portrayal of how life can turn out for someone once they join a certain profession or group.
