Water Tastes Very Good
I was surprised by how good the water tasted from this filter. I am pretty picky about the water I drink and normally buy bottled water when I go on vacation and have to lug heavy water bottles all around. I expected a plastic taste from the filter, but did not detect one. I tasted the tap water and it was pretty awful. The filtered water was excellent and if you refrigerate it I thought it was very good. While it is not as good as bottle water, it is pretty close and very convenient.I noticed if you do not use the filter often enough the filter starts to run slower. This is because the filter has air bubbles in it. You have to dunk the filter underwater, tap the bubbles out. Then I blew on the filter like a trumpet to empty out the water and then redunked it under water and tapped the bubbles out again. Then it worked fine.I will agree with the one reviewer that the unfiltered water can get into the filtered water so I am not sure how it works on water that is unfit to drink. For my purpose of filtering tap water, it worked great. I bought a couple of bottles of bottled water and then used an empty bottle to measure the right amount of water to fill another empty bottle. It is so compact and easy to carry. Great product.

Take extra filters
Couple of days into a two-week trip, filtering slowed to a trickle and finally stopped altogether. The filter has been used less than twenty times, on hotel tap water. Maybe the water was extra-hard.Other observations: this product and the "Natural Water" purifier (which cost $10 more) are the same, except for the filter (which cost $1 more). Both filters fit either of the purifiers--verified via email from the manufacturer. What I cannot tell is whether the filters themselves are actually different. The only difference that I can find is that the tap water version is listed for 100 liters, whereas natural is 50.

Recommended for all Travelers
As product manager, I travel to China and other parts of Asia on business frequently; typically 4-5 trips a year. There were few occasions that I'd gotten sick on the trip, so I carefully choose where I get the water and food there.I'd purchased this PurifiCup on Amazon. First impression was its simple to use, and the water tasted very good, both my wife and I thought the filtered water from this tasted better then the Pitcher filter we have in the house. So, I brought this "cup" on my trip to Shenzhen China for a week; and gladly return home in Hawaii without once having upset stomach. I'd used it at every restaurant to run the tap water they served. Also at Hotel faucets, twice at the airport to fill my reused water bottle, which is another great design that the filter housing screws right on a regular water bottle, so I can get clean water directly into a bottle.I highly recommend this product for anyone who travels!

After 10% of its life, still adds fine particles to the filtered water
I'm getting tired of having to dump the water out of my counter top ice maker just to get the fine sediment out when I use the water "purified" and "filtered" through this contraption. I've used this thing more than 30 times - around 10 percent of the filters life - and it's still producing sediment for you to drink. Why bother using this thing if it's going to add its own flotsam to the mix?

i took it to India
i took this with me when i traveled to India since i was going to be on my own and i wasn't sure where i would find water. mostly i put a drop of clorox in the water but there where two times i didn't and i never once got sick. i gave it to my parents to take on their next overseas trip. it really does work well, i wish i could get a bigger one.

Really Want This To Work
I really like this product when it works. My first filter started acting up around 60 cups, and stopped working completely after 80 cups. If you use this product on a daily basis, like I do, you MUST take out the filter and let it air dry overnight, every night. I use it at home and I take it to work, so I really want this device to work. I finally gave up and replaced the original filter with a new one. So far, so good, but have only used it for 5 cups. I'll come back and give an update on how the replacement filter works. The design, size, weight, portability of the Purificup is great.

The Truth: Purificup is Bad
I'm writing this review b/c Dirticup is the worst product that I have ever purchased on Amazon.A major flaw makes Dirticup possibly dangerous to use. The end of the filter unit exposed to the dirty water is stored in the "clean" inner container. Dirty, unfiltered water drips into the "clean" container so bacteria can enter into your clean water. If you filter tap water, you'll never see a problem b/c tap water is so clean in the first place. However, try filtering some colored beverage (i.e. red punch) to mimic some "dirty water". Then disassemble the filter back into its compact storage state, and look carefully through the side into the inner clean cup and you'll see some of the red punch dripping down. So basically, the dirty water was able to bypass the filter and enter into your clean water container.Stay away from Dirticup. For the amount you spend on this filter, you can buy over 50 gallons of bottled water at the convenience store.I should not have been so gullible and stupid listening to all the great reviews for this product. This is a gimmicky, poorly-made, and expensive piece of junk.
