Econo-Heat 0603 400W Wall-Mounted Electric Panel Heater

We have a small office which is poorly insulated and a lot of hollow plasterboard. We had fan heaters and convection heaters all over the place as well as storage heaters. The office despite that was never really warm and our winter bills are enormously high and the heaters were always falling off the wall because of the hollow plaster board.So I decided to replace all of the main heaters with these wall mounted panels. I installed 3 within about 20 minutes, they come with the drill bit but because its plaster board - I just made the whole with a knife and use the plasterboard plugs provided.The heat coming of these is incredible and it really is radiant heat - it surrounds the entire room, unlike the other heaters where you are only warm if you are close to them.I would recommend you buy plug timers with these though as its easy to forget that they are switched on. We bought timers that have the days of the week as well as hours and minutes so they are not coming on over the weekend when the office is empty.So far I dont know the impact of the electricity bill - but given the kw is lower than the other heaters and they heat so well, Im hopeful it will be much less.

Now dont get me wrong. I like this product.......BUT.I think they look really smart. I like the fact they fit against a wall and blend in. I have never painted one so cant comment on that. They look good and throw out the heat.Downside. They are fragile. They crack as they get older. Possibly as they get too hot. One of mine has now packed up completely. They are so easy to break. Be careful with them.I wont buy any more after my experience with them.

This little heater can pack a punch, it produces quite a bit of heat for little running cost. The only thing I would raise is that the centre of this unit is a bit easy to damage. As it is held away from the wall at the four corners the centre is exposed to the potential of damage (pressure from inadvertent leaning against, a hit from something) it is a shame there is no central support that would decrease the likelihood of potential damage. I raise this as my 6 year old son leant against this in the winter and the unit cracked. It didn't fall apart immediately (thankfully as it would have crushed toes) but did therefore leave the internal electrical wires open to the air. We have replaced the unit now however I thought this information may prove useful to anyone with little ones or in an area that the unit may get knocked.Update: we have bought a second unit after the first broke apart. It has only lasted a few weeks of use and is already split open and dangerous to use. Unfortunately I cannot advise anyone to buy this panel heater

This has far exceeded our expectations. We liked it so much that we bought another one. They use solittle electricity for the space, which is 44 sq meters with a 13 ft vaulted ceiling, one bedroom and bathroom. They heat the whole place.However, they are in our newly built wooden chalet which is extremely well insulated and triple glazed and we don't know how well they would perform in our old stone built house which doesn't have the same level of insulation. But we probably will get one for our kitchen in the house.

I bought just the one to try it out. It was dispatched and delivered ahead of the stated delivery day and the company gave plenty of warning to ensure I or someone was around to receive it. Well packaged, simple, understandable instructions. It came with a 2 pin European plug, so being a UK customer I had to buy an adaptor. Extremely easy to fix to the wall. Warms the room nicely. I shall be buying 2 more;one for the hall and one for the small bedroom.

I have given 2 stars only because 2 heaters arrived damaged. Having used these heaters in 2 previous homes I know that they are great.I have sent mail explaining the problem and asking for collection and replacement of the damaged heaters but as yet have not had a reply.If you are thinking of buying these heaters go ahead with the purchase they are efficient and economical to run.

I have given this three stars because although it is doing it's job very well from a heat perspective, I think it's important to note that this feels and looks like it's made out of papier mache (paintable clearly means cardboard like) it did NOT come with a standard UK plug, but a two pin bathroom adaptor, and whoever measured the lead and said it was 2m long is clearly deranged or incapable. It is 1m40cms and came up very short for where I wanted to wall mount it!

So upset, just after 12 months a HUGE crack appeared on the side of the heater. I can't get a refund because its over a year. Ive now read other people's reviews and noticed this is a common fault with this product. I'm thinking of writing to the ombudsman to complain. Trust me go for the Dimplex heaters, I've bought 4 of these over the past 3 years...brilliant. I don't know why I stupidly thought to try this brand, maybe because it was much cheaper. But as they say, you get what you pay for!! Be warned.
