Useful tips
I’ve read lots of books on how to write short stories and this is one of the better ones. A variety of authors share their ideas on subjects such as setting, characterisation, and endings. It would have been good if the advice had been backed up with stories, like Chris Fielden’s How To Write A Short Story, or Andy Houstoun’s How To Write Short Stories of Love & Entanglement, but otherwise, this book offers some useful tips.

Great resource for short story writers
A great source of inspiration for those who work in short form writing and an insight into how difficult it is to write a great short story, how every word has to earn its place and the process successful writers use to bring their stories to the page. Highly recommended.

A great guide, perhaps the best!!
The best book on writing that I ever got, and I have quite a few on my shelf. It is great to dip into and the tips are great and clear. Would recommend it to anyone looking to understand short stories as a craft.

fabulous, enthusiastic, inspiring tour through the art of the short story
I've been writing short stories for several years, and Vanessa Gebbie validates much that I've learned, especially that short stories are an art form distinct from other fiction forms like novels and flash. Highly recommended to any short storyist.
