I picked up this SmallRig Foldable V-Mount Battery Plate for my Sony FX3 before heading to NAB 2025, and it performed great on day one. It connects solidly to the bottom of the camera and feels super sturdy — definitely a well-built piece of gear. That said, with a fully rigged setup and V-mount battery, the added weight was a bit much for handheld use over multiple days, so I went lighter for the rest of the show. But if you’re in a studio environment or using a tripod, this is an excellent solution for extended power without compromise. One less thing to worry about on set!

I love this thing, paired with the fx3 cage it’s freaking awesome I can build/breakdown my rig so much faster than before. Also the little chest pad is super useful for handheld shooting but easy to remove when it’s not needed. I leave my tripod plate attached so i can just snap it all together real fast and start shooting. I haven’t had issues with the joint like others have. I recommend it to my friends.

I prefer this set up over the v mount with the two rods a lot as I only use autofocus and don't do any manual focus. This setup helps reduce the extra unnecessary weight.

So far I really like this. Kinda wish it had the NATO rail built in to the bottom of the mount as well but that's a small gripe in my opinion. Didn't come with any additional screws for the v mount. I am hoping those come with a battery in the future. Fits great on my FX30 with the small rig cage. My plan was to make a 3d print to hold external battery packs until I can afford a proper v-mount battery, but since it didn't come with screws, and they seem much smaller than the 1/4-20 I've seen on other v-mount systems, I'll have to find an alternative solution/gameplan.

Flip the rods and it’s perfect. Don’t screw the rods on flip them around so the 1/4 inch screw faces towards the pad and run the rods through your baseplate and install extensions or longer rods to reach the front of your rig, attach the baseplate to the v mount rail system for your quick release and boom. This removes about 1-1/2 an inch of vertical clearance between the baseplate and the bottom of the camera & lens.So I do not recommended The bump-stock/pad advertised. The length of the rods are too long for it too be comfortable when holding it at the waist & chest. Get a shoulder pad if you plan on having that much length. (See photos)The pad can be set halfway into its mount to get extra clearance so the rig can sit level with everything attached. BUT there are 2 screws holding the pad mount which is taped over by the Velcro. I had to cut this out in order to tighten them but that took about 45 seconds to do so not a big deal.The knobs and threads may have some defects but mine was great out of the box.

Works great for my Nikon Z6III video rig. Holds a large V-mount battery to power both camera and monitor. Connects well to my SmallRig camera cage. Well balanced.

I purchased this along with Smallrigs expensive V99 battery, and all I can say that they are not compatible. When the battery is attached I am able to wiggle it apart. You can see that the plate is not in tolerance and is off by a few milimeters, just enough for the plate to be twisted off. I have never expirienced this with vmounts before. I am SO DISSAPOINTED!Heres my review for the V99:NOT HAPPY WITH THIS PRODUCT. I have this battery along with Smallrigs Vmount battery plate. When I attach the V99 battery to the vmount plate, I noticed I am able to wiggle it apart/off. BEWARE the vmount is not secure, I already dropped my battery from resting my rig against my chest. So I sandwiched an extra plate that comes with the Smallrig Vmount plate and seems to be secure but is only held with one 1/4”-20 screw. These are both Smallrig products, I’m not understanding why I need to install a second plate for it to work, for such an expensive item and all the advertising they have with the two, you would think they are compatible together, get it right smallrig! Hopefully Smallrig revises these Vmount locking plates asap or I will be going back to my FXLions.
