Must have tool

Worth every penny!!! It payed for itself by being able to see inside a port for an industrial pipe and see if a valve was damaged. Saved me HOURS of work . Excellent tool. A few other guys here at work bought the same one. Turn it on and it’s ready to go with a light. Amazing image and can’t imagine not having this ever again. HIGHLY RECOMMEND . I bought a cool knock off pelican case case at harbor freight and it’s perfect.

Good unit, with typical deficiencies

This scope has a nice enclosure, and a long cable length. Unfortunately, the long length exacerbates the control problems that typical scopes have: It's VERY difficult to guide the camera head in any area that's not a small diameter (like a pipe) and has any bends that are not smooth, gradual sweeps. So, the usefulness of the long length is lost if the camera head can't be guided into where it's needed. With the only directional control of the camera head being via moving the cable back and forth or twisting it, it's usually pretty difficult to guide it to zero-in on the "target". (This is typical of most such scope designs). As for video performance, the image is very clear when the camera is within its optimum focus range. (There is no focus adjustment other than advancing or retracting the cable to move the camera head towards or away from the target). The color rendition is reasonable (and can be toggled between color and B/W mode at the press of a button). The display can be rotated 180 degrees by a button press. (Note that this also INVERTS the on-screen text and indicators - which is a bit annoying). There is a 3-step magnification (1x, 1.5x, 2x) controlled by + and - buttons; there is a 4-step LED brightness (100%, 80%, 60%, OFF), also controlled by + and - buttons; there is a 3-step contrast adjustment (intensified, normal, diminished) which is cycled by a single button. Unfortunately, none of these "adjustments" have significant effects on the view (except turning the LEDs off, which can reveal more image detail if there is ambient light present - apparently due to an auto-iris action of the camera).A puzzling thing happened when I tried to turn on my unit for the first time (right out of the box): It turned on, displayed the camera image and a fully-charged battery icon... and then turned itself off after a couple of seconds. Another try produced the same behavior. So I tried putting the unit on external power (which is an operating option). This way, when I turned it on, it stayed on - and the battery icon indicated charging. After a few minutes, I turned it off and disconnected the charger, and then turned it back on. This time it stayed on, and the battery icon showed partially charged. So, apparently the battery was NOT charged initially - despite showing a fully-charged battery icon during the few seconds that it stayed on. Weird. Anyway, after fully-charging the battery, it seemed to operate properly on the battery alone. It comes with three devices that clip onto the camera head for various jobs: A hook, a magnet, and an angled mirror. The hook and magnet are for retrieving objects, but somewhat reflect the LED illumination, tending to "wash-out" the far field of the camera image. (The magnet is larger than the hook, producing more reflection). I did not try the mirror yet. There are also three additional device clips - although it's not clear whether these are intended as spares in case the clips on the devices break, or if they are intended to be used to clip on some custom formed-wire devices. In any case, when the devices are clipped on, they tend to snag on things and thus exacerbate the difficulties of navigating the camera head as needed. (Because of this, I suspect the clips might break off easily - which may be the reason for the spare clips). To make this type of scope really usable would require some sort of "navigation assists" (like a spring cage for the camera head) and/or some means to control the "aiming" of the camera head - both to direct it onto the "target" and to control its directional movement within the spaces it is passing through. Unfortunately, I found no such options. One concern I noticed is the admonition that the (non-removable) battery MUST be re-charged every three months while the unit is in storage, in order to prevent IRREPARABLE damage to the battery. Sounds ominous - as well as being a hassle, and easily overlooked/forgotten.Bottom line is that the unit produces a good image (but the image adjustments aren't especially useful); the long cable length is useful for "deep dive" situations - but suffers from the typical "navigational limitations" that make these types of scopes difficult to use and limits the situations where they can be used.

WORTH THE MONEY

Works great for the price.

Great value

Fantastic price for just what I wanted. Works great. The long cable is good to have but it also makes it a tad difficult to manage the excess if you only need to look a few feet into something.

Greta picture, but poor wire connection

After only a few uses the wire cracked and broke off. But the picture quality and screen and battery life were fantastic, my 6 year old son thought this was the coolest toy ever. We found another version designed differently that we are ordering for him to replace this one.
