Works great for all my old drives
The MAIWO Hard Drive Enclosure has proven to be a reliable and versatile solution for my data management needs. It accommodates both 2.5 and 3.5-inch SATA drives, allowing me to easily swap between them as required. The USB 3.1 Type-C interface ensures fast data transfer speeds, and the included power adapter provides stable operation even with high-capacity drives. The aluminum design not only looks good but also effectively dissipates heat. The included power switch adds convenience and safety, allowing me to easily turn the enclosure off and on as needed. I've experienced no issues with compatibility or performance, and I highly recommend this enclosure to anyone seeking a reliable and efficient way to connect their internal drives externally.

Really good until I daisy chained two enclosures together
I was impressed enough with the first enclosure that I bought a second one. The throughput with a mechanical hard drive was about 340MBs which is about what I expected. When I daisy chained a second enclosure to the first drive, I only got about 45MBs on the second one. Thinking it was the hard drive I connected the second enclosure directly to my computer (Mac Studio) and was getting about the same 340MBs as the drive. I expected a little drop but not this much considering the enclosures were connected to a Thunderbolt 4 port. So in summary daisy chained enclosures do not work very well for throughput.

Fantastic operation and appearance, very pleased.
First day in, both 2-12TB Seagate Barracuda Pro HDDs, 1 in this Maiwo external as primary from PC and 2nd off the hub in a secondary Orico external, both drives immediately picked right up in Explorer with smooth and seamless operation, the Maiwo 5 bay dock was constantly freezing and stalling Explorer even when only scrolling through file names in the primary folder.Very pleased with this product starting on day of receiving, July 27, 2025.

Slow
Capping out at 400ish Mbps. I've tried 4 different USBC cables, 3 computers. All machine and cable combos seem to max at the transfer rate of the hardware I test against this. A Samsung t7 is getting faster results than the screenshots posted in other reviews here but I'm seeing the old sub spec of 480Mb/S or about 38MB/S. It is 2024. I'm not going to wait a week+ to transfer video from a 20tb drive.Build quality is bad. No instructions included, and it has all these strange accessories in a bag. I have no idea what it wants me to use to hook up the m2 drive so I haven't tried that. The data performance is so bad I don't care to be bothered measuring the holes and buying standoffs to screw into on my own. There is no heat removal despite being an aluminum case. Everything is surrounded by an insulating plastic layer. I'm just leaving it open with an old CPU cooler sitting on top of the drives I've tested. It would be better to make your own enclosure out of wood than use this thing.Bizarre case, don't waste your time and money.

Good Quality, Many Features, But Lacking Some Functional Ability We Need.
I gave it three stars for 3 key reasons from a usability perspective.1. The cable to connect the drive to your system is very short.2. My hard drive with an existing partition and data cannot be seen in this unit. But connected anywhere else it can. I will have to put the data elsewhere and reformat the disk in this unit order to use in this case.3. While there is an indicator light on the back, it should be on the front of the case not the back. All that aside it has many good qualities. The unit is constructed well and made out of good materials. There are many functional features including power control, charging ports, daisy chaining the drives, and lays on its side rather that standing up (which is an accident waiting to happen). Other external cases have plastic shells that don't' conduct heat well and set the drive on it's side. This is very dangerous with a spinning disk. I've ordered some longer USB 3 ( USB-C to USSB-A) cables to solve the length issues. But knowing what I know would I buys these again? Most definitely !
