When calibrating, should i wait until the pen reaches the ph the solution should be before i go to the next step. or when the smiley face pops up?
So does this ph tester come pre calibrated? Thats what the user manual makes it sound like. I already have the 7 & 9 range just not 10.
Anybody had success using this for fermentation? I'm hoping to find one that's easy to use/store that I can use for fermenting hot sauces, etc.
Can this tester be used to test ph for medical / intravenous solutions? i am looking for something that is accurate to ~0.1ph. any experience?

Excellent PH meter! Just Buy IT!

This right here is a key piece of equipment when growing anything, I bought the apera based on the review of 420scene on YouTube. I've had this for 3 months now, it does not loose calibration like my other meters. I do however calibrate once a month to be sure, and it's always on point! Just nice to to have piece of mind. I bought the regular kit, and ordered the storage solution separately, looking back I wish I got the big kit with stand and cleaning brush and extra fluids. The regular kit still comes with everything you need to get started. If your on the fence, just do it! It's better than spending a lot on the big blue brand and I'm glad I didn't and got this! Batter life is awesome, the casing is sealed and prevents water and nutrient solution from entering. It does have an auto shut off after 5 minutes, the overall quality it nice, it's git decent weight for handling, the screen is easily readable, only thing I would change is the LCD being lit up, there is not backighting.

great meter for the price

I purchased this meter after my el-chepo died on me, the unit came quickly(as usual) from amazon. The meter came in a nice plastic case with foam lining. It came with batteries and a nice laminated card telling how to calibrate the meter and any directions you will need. The meter calibrated easily as it comes with 4.0 and 7.0 Ph solutions to calibrate the meter. Easy to read and it reads your liquid very quickly, the El cheapo meter I had took about 1 minute to stablize, This meter reads very quick. Its nice and feels substantial in your hand. I hope it will last for years!

Convenient case

Was not so easy to calibrate took me a little of retesting to ensure accuracy but I like the case, the little buffer solutions are handy.

Works perfectly

This thing works great! I was worried I would have to spend $200 for a good pH meter after the $10 one didn't work well at all. I have used this one 2x/day for the last couple of months and every time I go to calibrate it, it reads exactly 7.0 in the buffering solution. I couldn't be happier with it.

Very Unethical Company

I got 1 of these after seeing my friend test my water very quickly with it. I followed the instructions and calibrated but it wasn't testing my water very quickly. Perhaps I didn't watch closely but I don't recall my friend needing to add any storage solution to my water sample to test it. I think he was sticking it directly in his own tanks as well. Our water is VERY hard and the TDS is 450ppm here out the tap and closer to 1200-1500ppm in many of my tanks. When mine kept drifting and not showing a stable/believable number I contacted Apera. They ran me through circles and told me the only way it will work for my water is if I add test solution to each sample. After doing this I still can't say it's working as well as I expected. Basically, the point of this was to save me time and encourage me to do more testing of my water so I can be more informed about my water chemistry but really it just slows me down and at the end doesn't get results as accurate/solid as a liquid API test. :'(The customer service was very uninformed so I don't know that they were deliberately rude, but it came off that way because they not only refused to replace my meter (saying there's nothing wrong with it) but they also made wildly misinformed comments. The person in charge or helping me with the product just wasn't informed enough about the product or water chemistry in general. To my understanding my water has more iron in it than average. So let me make sure I'm explaining this right... Before I had to pour tank water in a tube, add 3 drops of something, shake it, then see the results... now I have to pour tank water in a tube, add 3 drops of something, stir it, then soak my meter in the solution for like a minute to get a stable reading, then weigh that against my super stable liquid-test and find out if it's even accurate? Why not just do the liquid tests?
