It would have been nice if the supplier had made it clear that the audio output, and probably the video also, on the RCA connectors, is digital and not analog. Therefore, it will not work if you try as I did, to connect the white and red audio cables to the analog input of an audio amplifier. You need a HDMI converter to do that. This cable is for someone who lacks an HDMI input on their device, but does have RCA digital inputs. I’m not sure how common that is anyway. Update to the original review. I returned the cable and subsequently purchased this splitter/converter, see amazon link below, and other than my reservation about not having an on/off switch (see my item review for one solution) has been working fine for sending analog audio to my amplifier. Device does not work, tried many different HDMI devices not a single one detected an attached device. This device does not convert an HDMI source to composite video - there might be a specialized used for this device (such as some other non-standard device that transmits composite signals over an HDMI cable). This device does not have an HDMI to composite signal converter embedded in it.

This product is misrepresented. It claims to be a converter, but it is NOT an HDMI to RCA converter. You need a powered converter box for this. The description needs to be changed or the product removed. A similar product does make the distinction that it is not a converter, this one should too. The other reviews are either for something else or are fake.

Unfortunately it does not work. I bought this to connect my computer to my older analog TV so I could watch Netflix on the TV screen and it does not work -- at least for that purpose.

Didn’t work converting iPhone X video using Apple adapter with HDMI. Tried converting to RCA in car and didn’t get a signal at all. Returning and going with an “active” converter.

Did not work as intended. Cables have the ends that fit the different components yet no converter between the ends. My fault for just looking at ends and at lowest price, rather than also checking reviews for the product.

SAYS IN THE DESCRIPTION IT DOESN'T WORK, my fault for not seeing it. Cannot figure what this product does but take money from people since it can't do the one single simple thing it is meant to.
