Even if you buy this book and never write a single great jazz song, you'll still learn a hell of a lot about how jazz 'heads' etc, are composed and why certain rhythms and harmonies that compliment these heads, are chosen. Very interesting read...

Bought for my partner as a gift, and he is very pleased with it- the book is well laid out, the exercises are well structured and you can download tracks to play along with.

I know it was used, but the CD was unusable (broken nearly into two pieces). The book is fine; the description was accurate, so no problems

I found a better one eventually.

I really enjoyed the printed book but lost my copy and thought I would buy the Kindle Version.Unfortunately it was a waste of money. The music examples are not displayed and the text is meaningless without them. There is also no access to the recordings of the examples in the book.My advice is to buy the printed book and not waste your money on the Kindle Version.

Excellent book on Jazz Composition. I guess they are not including the CD anymore so how can one hear the examples in the book?

El autor usa un gran número de ejemplos en audio y te obliga a estudiar los temas con ejercicios correspondientes a cada uno de estos.

作曲の理解を深めたいと思いこの本を購入しました。内容はある程度音楽理論を学んだ人向けのものだと思います。全体的に解説は簡潔に行われていて、基本的な音楽理論には深く触れていない印象でした。ただ、譜例がしっかりついていますし、付属の音源もありますので、個人的には取り組みやすかったです。これまでさまざまな理論書を読んできましたが、それでもこの本を読んで初めて気付かされる事柄が多くありました。

Der Autor empfiehlt, die Ergebnisse der eigenen Versuche von einem erfahrenen Lehrer überwachen zu lassen. Wer kein Klavier beherrscht, soll sich notfalls einige Passagen von Pianisten vorspielen lassen.Das Buch hat einen logischen, pädagogisch schlüssigen Aufbau und einen klaren Lehrplan als Background.Es setzt aber Kenntnisse der Harmonielehre voraus. So beginnt das Buch auf Seite 3 mit einer Melodie als Audio-Beispiel 1 der CD, deren erster Ton bereits Eb7#9#11 unterlegt angezeigt wird.Wem dies nichts sagt, der sollte wissen, dass es danach nicht einfacher wird.
