Outdoorchef Classic 570 Charcoal Kettle Barbecue

This review is for the Outdoorchef Classic 570 charcoal kettle grill (570C, where C stands for charcoal). There is also a 570G, which is the equivalent Gas version.Initial thoughts: This is robust, solid and quite impressive to look at. The kettle is clearly made of superior materials, from the metal itself to the innovative hinge.Setup was a pain to be honest. The building instructions are terrible but will make sense after staring at them for a while. I'm savvy at constructing items, but this was quite annoying. It took me just about two hours to do it alone.Once setup it functions just as expected. The Outdoorchef is different because it uses a funnel system. There is a large metal funnel used inside the kettle to remove the guesswork from direct and indirect heatings with charcoal. It makes it ridiculously easy, even for an amateur griller such as myself. To top it off, the funnel acts as a drip pan to catch anything that falls below the grill grates. I would suggest looking at the Outdoorchef website to clarify this feature so you understand what you're getting...they have great videos demonstrating this feature.The grill grate has a built in door to allow you to add more charcoal if needed during cooking. This is great as you don't need to take the whole thing off, especially when the grill has already started. Also the hinge makes life easy to cook, keeping both hands free to maneuver the food.The kettle does come with a built in thermometer, just in case you were wondering. There are also 4 hooks from which you can hang your tools such as tongs, spatula, etc. The top wood tray is screwed in, and the bottom wood trade is slid on (not screwed in).Also, you should absolutely buy the cover for this grill (available here on Amazon: "Outdoorchef Cover Compatible with Ascona Gas/ Classic Charcoal"). Superb charcoal BBQ! It wasn't too difficult to put together as the instructions are very clear and all components are packaged really well/easily identifiable.It is a good looking and sturdy frame, very well manufactured. We are really pleased with it.The instructions in it use however are rubbish, so we turned to the videos online which are very good.It's a bit pricier than the average BBQ but I feel it will last 10 times longer so it'll be worth it.

Top quality BBQ. Heavier construction than any Weber so should last. Hinge operation of lid is useful but a little awkward as it opens away from where you normally would stand. Assembly is tricky so set aside a good hour or so if you are handy with the tools and double that time if not! The indirect heat guard does work but is a little gimmicky and I have now removed it as it is easier to pile briquettes to one side for indirect cooking than fiddle with the guard. All in all a vey nice BBQ, built well and at a good price.

Really pleased with this bbq. It’s well made and feels like it will last. First time I’ve had a charcoal bbq of this quality, and I don’t know why I’ve waited so long!! The temperature is very controllable and I’ve cooked everything from burgers to a whole leg of lamb successfully.

Love this product! bought it after moving into my own house, for a moving in party. Rest assured it is well worth the money, just remember to clean down properly and keep covered up if storing it outdoors, I suspect it would last long exposed a years worth of typical british whether

This is the Rolls Royce of the round covered barbacues. Much better than teh equivalent Weber. European Outdoorchef is a Swiss company and it shows. Everything, even the grills is enameled.The traies are wood. The bars are solic and big. Everything is quality in this bbq.

This is a very nice barbecue but it is in many small bits you have to put together, be warned. The Warehouse item I bought was described as damaged packaging but the stove enamelled dome lid had a big chunk out of it right through to the metal. This pretty much writes off the barbecue and would need replacement. I see Amazon have now listed an item which I presume is the one I returned!Amazons return process was brilliant.
