So close to being perfect
Love the size of this tray and the features of it for the price, but with some minor changes it'd be perfect.Pros:- Price - It's less than other similar front trays from other companies.- So far the quality of it is solid- 1/4"-20 & 3/8"-16 threaded mounts are nice for mounting magic arms and battery mounts- The soft pad material in the bottom helps to keep things from bouncing/moving around when moving the stand it's attached to- Rubber lined top edges- Dividers are nice for keeping things separated- Mounting via a Super Clamp makes it super easy to mount to just about any light stand with one major caveat (see below)- 2 large cutouts in the rear for passing through cables- Multiple non-threaded holes on the front and right side, which can be handy for mounting other items. I printed some hooks and used M5 screws/nuts to mount them.Cons:- The included Super Clamp has a long handle, which can't be rotated a full 360º when tightening/loosening it, because it'll make contact with the tray as you turn it. It's a ratcheting handle, so it still can be used, but it's not convenient at all. I chopped the handle on the included Super Clamp so it would clear the tray, but you could also swap the included Super Clamp for one made by Impact/Manfrotto that has a smaller knob. This is honestly my biggest complaint about this tray setup and wouldn't be an issue at all if the included Super Clamp had a shorter handle/knob.- The tray has 4 mounting holes at the rear for the Super Clamp and it came with (4) M5 mounting screws. 2 of them are attached from inside the tray, which go into the 2 threaded holes on the Super Clamp. The 2 other holes in the Super Clamp aren't threaded, which is normal, but other brands typically include 2 longer screws that can be installed from the clamp side and tightened down with two nuts on the tray side. Not sure why ProAim included (4) M5 screws that are the same size and the remaining 2 screws can't be used on the clamp side. I used some M5x20mm socket head screws with nuts for the clamp side.- 1 of 2 of the cable pass through holes at the rear will be fully/partially blocked if you have the Super Clamp mounted in the horizontal orientation. If the clamp is mounted vertically it doesn't block either holes. The pros in my opinion outweigh the cons for this tray. If ProAim just made some fairly minor/simple changes like changing the included clamp to one with a shorter handle/knob, then this tray would honestly be a 5/5 for me.*Edit/Update: Swapped the Super Clamp with the chopped ratchet handle for one with a smaller T-Handle, which is what ProAim should've included with this tray to begin with.
