Gets rid of smells
I believe it's killing germs. I purchased this for my house. I have used it in musty, smelly spaces. I've used it with a couple boxes of very old musty books. All bathrooms, bedrooms were zapped. All with success. Smelly musty aroma in various spaces and within books -GONE! I adjusted the power and time according to the size of the room and/or to the intense of the smell. Larger units are used in the hospital rooms at my work. I am happy with the size, quality and power of this item.

This device just works!
First, you should know that I am a victim of the 2018 Woolsey wildfire outside of Los Angeles. Many of my neighbors burned to the ground, but I was randomly lucky and came back from evacuation to find my house still standing. The smoke and ash damage to my home was almost inconceivable. I had heard of smoke damage, but had never truly experienced it. It is horrendous!Needless to say, getting an insurance claim started and finding a smoke restoration company was challenging with the other thousands of claimants doing the same at the same time. Good for the smoke restorers, bad for us homeowners.Fifteen days after the fire, we finally got electricity back, but I still could not get a company to commit for several weeks to clean my home. And I was still playing the silly insurance game.I went on to the interweb to find out exactly what these restoration companies do to fix a home after a fire of this incredible magnitude. Certainly it must be possible to perform the same service myself?Well, this device here is the main component that these restoration companies rely on — the secret voodoo magic, if you will. The device that handles much of the load of noxious odors.Basically, from what I researched, these companies do four main activities. These companies first set up “air scrubbers” (actually just big fans with hepa filters installed) to get the floating junk out of the air. Then they vacuum all surfaces with hepa filter vacuums and then rub down items and surfaces with Clorox or other solutions. That's it! Seriously, that is all that they do for an extraordinary amount of cost to you or insurance. And all of the above is available for purchase right here on Amazon or at your local big box store for only a few hundred dollars investment. (I don't work for Amazon or this company or anyone else associated with this, don't worry. I am not plugging for anyone. I am plugging only for efficient DIY and saving of money)So, as mentioned above, the most amazing thing these companies do is ozone your living space. The chemical reaction involved is beyond my concern, but basically spraying invisible ozone through a space obliterates odors — stinky pets, rodent cadavers and, of course, my horrible smoke smell. And it works! There are a couple caveats. First, the ozone is bad for you to breathe. So do it in unoccupied spaces, then set a fan to air the space out when finished. The smell of ozone is almost as nasty as the smoke itself, at first. And you’ll want to get rid of that odor just as much as any other smell. Mostly, it disappeared over a few hours. However, I find that the odor still exists in fabrics and furniture for quite awhile after treatment. The antidote? Raw, white onions cut into quarters and left in the area for a day. Seriously. Look it up. It works. The other caveat is that Amazon won’t ship these to certain locales due to local ordinances. I had to cleverly get around this and you can too.And that’s it! That is what those magic restoration companies do. Only they will charge you (or your insurance) thousands and thousands of dollars. “...we have to let your books sit in an OZONE chamber for awhile...” they say with that spooky, voodoo lilt to their voice. Ohhhhh, an ‘ozone chamber’. How mysterious and technical and space age.Nope, it’s easy and you can do what I did. Fix your whole house by yourself. This thing is indeed like magic. Very simple to use. Very simple to clean (this version has a built in hepa filter that is cleanable and replaceable). You set the time you want the unit to run and the output amount. I just experimented with these settings since the Chinese-centric manual was a bit vague on details.Oh yes, another thing that I discovered is that ozone is bad on rubber. My bike tires became cracked after six hours of ozoning the garage. I don’t know what else in my house has been affected, but I guess I will find out as I go.In any case, if you need to eradicate smells, this is the only way to go. Highly recommended.

Know what you're buying BEFORE you buy it! Learn about Ozone FIRST!
Hopefully you already did the research and you're certain you __NEED__ an Ozone generator. If you didn't, you should - Ozone probably doesn't do what you think it does and it's probably inappropriate for your situation - and I can say that with better than 75% confidence. Most people are under the illusion that Ozone destroys odors and makes things "fresh". Wrong. Ozone is NOT an air 'freshener' OR an air 'purifier' - in fact, it has more in common with SMOG than it does fresh air! Ozone is a toxic (yes, TOXIC) gas that enables rapid oxidation of certain organic compounds in heavy [usually very unsafe] concentrations. But in this case, the cure might be worse than the disease, so PLEASE, PLEASE do your research first and learn about what this machine makes before jumping in and filling your home up with Toxic O3 gas. Visit the EPA's web site to learn what Ozone is and isn't BEFORE you buy this machine. This machine is a monster. If you need O3 in concentration from a compact sized machine, this definitely gets the job done. It's quiet, compact and monstrously effective at making toxic O3 gas. O3 production is variable, from OFF to "maximum/100%", but I found that even at its lowest setting, it still makes an enormous amount of Ozone. We use it to control pet odors and deep fryer smell, and while it does both very well, it might cause more harm than good in certain cases. Any space this gets used in must be absolutely devoid of ANYTHING living - including fish, plants, pets, people, alien life forms, food (i.e., fruits), zenomorphs, expensive artwork, fresh stickers you care about, screen-printed clothes, etc... It is VERY good at killing life - especially plants that often get forgotten about: They might look fine the morning after, then they die an uncontrollable death several days later. The Ozone created by the Enerzen Ozone generator does NOT purify air - the small HEPA filter on the back of the unit does. Also, the generated Ozone does NOT "sterilize" anything - the small internal UV bulb does. The internal fan runs at a fixed speed and is fairly quiet. The timer on the front supports 0-24 hour operation, or HOLD. Ozone generation is variable from OFF to 100%, but it is very unclear is the dial percentage markers actually match Ozone production from 0 to 15kmg/h (i.e., does 50% actually equal 7,500mh/h?).Exposure to the high concentrations of O3 created by this unit irritates eyes, nose, throat and lungs and could take you several WEEKS to recover from - so be aware of where people are in relation to where the machine is running. Understand that it can and does go through vents to adjacent rooms, and even small amounts can cause serious headaches and respiratory problems. This machine is an equal-opportunity destroyer: It will destroy cells in your lungs, throat and sinus, damage skin, eyes and other tissues, and get rid of certain organic odors. Make sure you "really" need O3 and not just a good cleaning or a an actual HEPA air filter units instead.Buying this unit for air purification or air filtration purposes is a mistake. The HEPA filter on the back of the unit is far too small to make any kind of remarkable difference, and the UV bulb inside the unit is too low-wattage to effectively sterilize any significant volume of air. I essentially treat both of these two features as gimmicks when it comes to the designed purpose of this machine - to produce massive amounts of Ozone.Buyer beware! DO YOUR RESEARCH FIRST!

Clarification
Clarification: The stated 'mg' units in the parameters appear to actually represent micrograms (µg), not milligrams (mg). This distinction is critical, as it implies a value 1,000 times smaller when converted to grams. Its only enough to remove odor from you bathroom if you run it for 5 hours or more.
