AWESOME CHARGE COMTROLLER
Update 10/22/19 I paid 98.00 for the first charge controller I purchased from here. @ $0 .17 per kWh (This is what we pay for grid power) this unit has paid for it self. ROI achieved ;-) It is still going strong. Keep In mind that I never use these at 60 amps as they would get to hot and burn up faster. Keep in mind I have them limited to 40 amps @ 28.0 volts max or a maximum wattage of 1120 watts. This MPPT has produced 725 kWh watts of energy. At the current pricing of 168.00 these need to produce 1 mWh of energy @ $0.17 kWh to achieve an ROI. I have no doubt they will do it. I took a risk with these and am happy I did. For this reason I'm bumping my rating back up to 4 StarsUpdate 5/7/19 After ordering 3 more of these I am very disappointed in the new firmware that these are being shipped with. 2 of the 3 units would go into a communications error on day one that I could not resolve by resetting them or any other tried method. I sent 2 back leaving me with 1 (Blue unit in picture) out of the 3 that is still acceptably working. The quality control doesn't seem to be there. My current recommendation is to look elsewhere for a charge controller. I'm thinking about going back to the sunny sky controllers but they are no longer being sold Amazon prime and that is to risky if a problem arises.Update 1/09/19 I found a small glitch in the firmware with the now 3 of these I own. I am using these for Lithium ion batteries and have discovered if you disconnect these units when the batteries are mostly full (27.4 volts or higher) and reconnect them they will not charge again until you do a factory reset after booting them back up with a voltage of 27.4 volts or lower. You will also have to reprogram all parameters for Li-Ion at that time. Thought I'd put this out here if anyone ever has this problem. It's a pain but an easy fix as well!Update 11/3/18 These are still performing awesome but I am reducing them by 1 star to 4 stars because they keep jacking up the price on them. It use to be $98.00ea now it's $168.00ea. They were a 5 star product at the $98.00 price point. I can't say it's a 5 star product anymore at $168.00Update 11/19/18 These (The yellow 60 amp version) are still performing awesome but I am reducing them by another 2 stars because they are manipulating their products and their ratings. I never reviewed their 30 amp blue controller but now this review is linked to that product. This is a warning sign to me and seems a bit shady!!! I also sell on Amazon and would never introduce a new product under one that has been rated already as this is deceptive to the customer. Create a new listing entirely!!!1/09/19 After checking the 30 amp version it is no longer tied to my review on the yellow 60 amp version and stands on its own as an unreviewed product so i'm bumping the rating back up to 4 stars. Looks like they are doing the right thing and impressing me bit by bitGot my second one of these and It's doing just as expected. Don't be fooled by bad ratings!!! Awesome charge controller. I use these charge controllers with Lithium Ion batteries and love it. All terminals are larger than the Sunnysky 60 amp MPPT charge controller I have and make excellent connection. I purchased the 60 Amp versions. I have 6 310 watt panels and 280 amp hours 7S 100P 18650 28.7 volt lithium ion batteries hooked up to it and it charges them like a dream and stays cool while doing so. The fact I can program all the charge parameters without the need for a computer is simply awesome. The manual is pretty clear and easy to understand even though I think its simple enough to understand by just playing with the menus on the unit itself. The fan kicks on at just under 20 amps and stays on until the current falls below 19 amps. My favorite feature is being able to limit the current output to whatever I want while charging, this can be crucial with lithium ion batteries as you don't want to charge them above a certain C rating. I haven't used the power output side of this unit and can't say anything about it other than it does put out voltage. The whole unit is sturdy and well put together.

Works well
So far so good. Works well.

How to Use this charger
I have been using this unit, or a previous, green-cover model of it now for about two years. And I am very happy with it. I am using it on a 12 Volt system. I also have a tip for anyone using it as well: i.e. to Take it off of the Auto (Battery Detect and Charge) Mode and set it to whatever you have: be it 12, 24, 36, or 48 Volt system, and then nto Manually Set the Charge Voltage to whatever your Batteries require. I have it normally set to charge my 12 Volt (and 6 Volt --- in 2 separate banks) batteries at 14.8 Volts. I also can tell you that as the Batteries reach their full potential, this (smart) charger will drop the charge current, as any smart charger will do. And that when you want to equalize your bank, that you do it manually --- at between 15.5 - 16.0 Volts.

Seems to work great for my Tesla pack. Missing temperature cutoffs but that's alright.
This thing seems to do the job charging my Tesla pack. Pretty easy to program. One questionable thing is that they went to all the trouble to include a thermometer you can tape to your battery pack, but don't let you program high or low temperature charging cutoffs! Seems pretty strange, like a feature they forgot to add. Charging lithiums below freezing is suicide, so that would be a useful feature. Also, the maximum wire gauge for connections is 6awg, which is borderline too small if you're planning on using the full amperage. I did it anyway, but seems like an oversight.Other than that, seems fine. I'd still buy it, knowing the above.Update: 2 years of ownership. Continues to be great! After using some other controllers, I've realized this one is FAR more configurable and has a much better interface than the others in its price range, allowing for settings like Maximum Amperage, which is extremely useful. Great, highly programmable controller for lithium batteries. Very occaisonally beeps for no reason.

Has some issues the Mfgr is not willing to address
I've been using this for almost a year now. I have a 4 panel, 800w system, so the 60amp MPPT.First - the display routinely stops working - goes blank. The only way to get it to work again is to remove solar array and battery connections, so no input voltage, wait one minute, and reconnect. I'm thankful that so far, this does always get it to work again. The Mfgr suggests I clean the display connection ribbon - which I've done multiple times which clearly does not fix it.Second - the MPPT will do this searching cycle where it puts a load on the solar array, then back off, then again, until it finds the highest output from the solar array before it loads it too much. This controller does this for an extended period of time (more than 30 minutes), which seems inordinately long time trying to locate it's happy place.Third - the MPPT frequently when I check my LiFePO4 batteries, will not be putting out the max amps possible for the conditions/time of day (with batteries that still need significant charge). If I disconnect the solar array, then reconnect, then the MPPT will almost immediately go to the correct amps for the conditions. Example, frequently mid day I'll check and it's outputting 20amps, then if I disconnect and reconnect, then it's immediately putting out 32 amps. The Mfgr just tells me to read about the MPPT process in the owners manual as an explanation. However, none of this is "normal" behavior for an MPPT charge controller. And these two last items will absolutely reduce the amount of charge you can get out of the available charge from the solar array. So my review after much testing, contact with the Mfgr, etc. is that I will be looking for a replacement MPPT charge controller to buy. Too bad their product seems *almost* good enough, and I'm guessing some software changes could fix the problems, if they were willing to do so.
