I found it funny and it worked well for us. Some reviews mentioned issues, but I didn't have any. If you don't open the door quickly, it doesn't jump out as much, but it still gave us a scare!

Such a great gag gift. It's just a simple, small, unfinished box. I brought it to work and showed a co-worker my son made the box by hand. We all had a good laugh when she screamed Outlook when the spider popped out toward her hand!

The idea of this surprise box is good and initially functions as intended.The spider is great but is only pushed onto the wire inside. It does come off after a few uses. Another concern is the knob on the sliding top, it’s a wooden ball glued on. A dowel in the lid would have prevented it from falling off.
