If you get nothing else from this book, read the section on goal-free math problems (thought the whole book is readable and insightful). If you are a teacher, primary or high school, this book is a worthwhile read.

I love that this book is written by someone who teaches math and is evaluating his methods even though he is told he was a great teacher. It has has research and scientific knowledge about how the brain works and things to consider when teaching.

As teachers introspection on our practice is important even if we think we are a super star. Aligning with research on learning is essential to improved results. It’s here in this book.

This is the single greatest contribution to the field of mathematics instruction - maybe ever. I could not give this a higher recommendation.
