Worked for Cat's Hairball. Very slow process though. Bonus: The cat loves the taste.

My cat had a hairball that she could not throw up. Many, many times a day she would try to cough it up. It was horrible for her and for me to see and hear. I was afraid that I'd have to have it surgically removed. And I kept thinking about how the longer it was in there, the bigger it was getting. I researched if there was anyway to dissolve the hairball which led me to egg yolk lecithin.Ended up doing two capsules a day. After weeks, she started vomiting up small chunks of hair. Then she coughed up a regular size hairball. Then she coughed up a bunch of loose hair in liquid. I guess the rest of it must have passed out the other end. All totaled, it took two months. As a preventive measure, I am still giving her two capsules a day as she's shedding. It's not a problem to give. I open the capsule and dissolve it in a little water. She licks the water straight out of the medicine dropper. She thinks it's a treat.

Lecithin is Brain Food and Removes Fat

I bought this for my cat. Lecithin removes cat hair balls. Hair balls are 50% hair, plus 50% fat which clings to it over time, making them too bulky to spit out or poop out. Lecithin dissolves the fat, so the cat can get rid of its hairballs. I usually give my cat a bottle or two per year as hairball prevention. I dose at 1 capsule (600 mg) two times a day with his food. Lecithin must be given with food. Only Egg Yolk Lecithin is okay for cats, not Sunflower or Soy derived Lecithin. For adult humans, Lecithin max dose is 1200 mg with meals 2-3 times per day. It is safe for children as well, but lower doses. Lecithin keeps all fat in meals and in the body in a dissolved liquid state, so it does not settle into the body, but is excreted out in stools. It also helps lower cholesterol levels (add some fiber in diet at night), and is good for the brain. Humans can have Soy or Sunflower Lecithin as well, which are cheaper. This is an excellent product for everyone to use.

Cure for my cat's hairballs!

I'm sure this is not the use case for most of Amazon's purchases, but after doing a lot of online research, I learned that egg yolk lecithin is an emulsifier and lubricant that assists in breaking apart hairballs in the stomach so they can be easily passed through the GI tract. This is the natural way for cats get rid of hair they ingest. They should not have to cough it up. You'll want to gradually introduce to your cat so as to not cause stomach upset. I started giving 1/2 cap twice a week, then went to every other day, now I give a full cap daily, but I'll see if a 1/2 cap does the job. He was having terrible hairball symptoms just before I started and now they're gone and he didn't cough up any hairball. It's amazing! Photo of the cutie happily finishing off his wet food with the capsule contents mixed in.

Must HAVE for HAIRBALLS!

I can't begin to tell you how long of a hairball journey I've been on. My cat is 15 years and has had trouble with throwing up hairballs all her life. She wants to...just has extreme difficulty getting them up. The result. Throw up...but often no hairball.. There is NEVER hair in her poop...in 15 years. She's got white fur so you would notice. I've tried everything. Catlax helps but NOT getting the actual hair out of her stomach-there is NEVER white fur in her poop. Vet Best helped once, but the side effects were too much for her to bear. After 3 months of no hairballs and no hair in poop...I did the vets best hairball pill and two weeks later she coughed up a 6 inch hairball. Not kidding. I measured it and took a picture. But she also started throwing up bile and had it hanging from her jowls. Vets Best couldn't continue. She continued wanting to throw up but NO hairballs. I was concerned this would kill her. I finally came across EYL (Egg Yolk Lecithin) and read the reviews. I was desperate for anything that would work but no kill her. I tried it and within 2 weeks I saw the difference. There was white fur in her poop every day. Not kidding! Everyday! and not once prior in 15 years! If you love your cat try EYL!

Worked for 3 months

This took a few weeks to work on my cats hair balls, then it worked good for 2 months, now it stopped working all together. I don't know what to do now. Any suggestions? I already give him Laxatone, which does nothing for this domestic shorthair cat. He doesn't even had a lot of hair. Need help!

This product helps to control hairball digestion in cats.

I like this product and have been mixing it into my cats food for years. It helps the cats digestion and helps the hairballs to pass through. It is easy to open up the capsules and sprinkle it in their food. Normally, lecithin is not good for cats but egg yolk lecithin is safe and effective.
