One of the best anime series around!
If you hang around the Internet you’ve heard of Jojo in some fashion. Whether it’s the “To Be Continued” meme or all of Joseph Joestar’s “OH MY GOD OH NOOOO” moments you’ve heard of it. The characters are musclebound for the first few parts and slim up as the series goes on but they’ve always rocked these pretty eccentric poses straight out of the Greek/Roman eras seen in paintings or sculptures.Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure: The Animation Set 1 contains two parts from the as of now total 8 within the series - Phantom Blood and Battle Tendency (or Part 1 and 2 to simplify). Part One follows Jonathan Joestar (referred to as “JoJo” by those that know him combining first and last names, this is a theme for all Jojos) as he goes from peaceful rich boy to battle hardened badass when his father takes in the devious Dio Brando. This part spans 9 episodes, moving at a fairly quick pace as Jonathan faces off against vampires, zombies and the equivalent of Dracula himself in a Castlevania-esque adventure ending in a castle. Part 2 picks up with Jonathan’s grandson Joseph Joestar, a trickster with a pension for predicting what you’ll say next before he kicks your ass. He’s thrown into a battle with ancient vampire like adversaries called the “Pillarmen”, led by Kars with the goal of becoming the ultimate lifeforms controlling the planet. This arc spans the remaining episodes in the set.My preferred way of watching was the dub, which utilized some excellent cast choices for each character. The music is superb and the overal art style so vibrantly colorful. In tense scenes color will change and enhance what you’re watching even further. Definitely a visually beautiful series. The set includes a bunch of cards featuring characters from both parts as well as a book detailing the storyboards and information from the people behind this amazing series. It all comes dressed in a very attractive black box which encases the regular blu Ray case.My only complaint is that the version of the show they used in this and Set 2’s blu rays is the originals so any of the changes done on Adultswim making signs in English and the like are not present. Minor but worth noting. If you love anime, Shonen or otherwise, you need to pick up this series. It only gets better from here...Part 3 introduces Stands and those are the mainstray abilities for the series going forward. Start this up, you won’t regret it.You thought this review was over didn’t you? But it is I, DIO, here to tell you to buy this series! You also might want to pick up set 2 and 3 (when it releases) to see my glorious return!!

One of the Greatest Animes Ever Gets the Respect it Deserves!
Hirohiko Araki's masterpiece "JoJo's Bizarre Adventure" has at long last been released on Blu-ray! Previously, all fans had to go off of was a very shameful, cash-grab release from Warner Brothers that was only released on DVD. I can proudly say that Viz has corrected any errors WB made with their own release. The new Blu-ray set includes:- Episodes 1-26 of the anime in 1080p HD video- The previous dub, but all new subtitles for the Japanese audio that are 100% accurate (aside from copyright name changes)- A huge art book that was until now, only available through the Japanese Blu-ray releases! It's entirely translated and includes storyboard art with director commentary for each episode- 9 art cards, each one featuring the artwork from the original Japanese Blu-ray covers- An exclusive chipboard case modeled after the JoJonium manga releasesIf you're new to the series, JoJo features intense and creative action, incredible humor, memorable characters and a moving story that has been praised for decades. This Set covers the first two Parts (Phantom Blood & Battle Tendency) in the JoJo saga. Phantom Blood sets the stage for the series, taking place in 1890's England. Jonathan Joestar, having lived a tragic life ever since his adoptive brother Dio Brando comes into the family, must fight to protect the ones he loves from evil. A mysterious stone mask has the power to transform any who wear it into a creature of the night and it just so happens that Dio comes across one of these masks himself. Battle Tendency takes place several decades later in the late 1930's just as WWII is getting underway. Jonathan's descendant, Joseph Joestar arrives in the good ol' U.S.A. to investigate the disappearance of a loved one. What he encounters sets him off of a globe-trotting adventure to protect humanity itself against the Pillar Men -- three ancient, all-powerful beings responsible for creating the stone masks!Everything Viz could have done, they did and more with this release. I'm going to support this completely and hope that within the near future, we get a Set 2 containing Stardust Crusaders! Definitely a 5/5 for me!

A must have for any jojo fan and anyone curious about the show
If you already have a love for jojo then you should get this no question, not only to support it coming to the west but because it's a very aesthetic set with some good bonuses including a 168 page book which includes the animation process of key scenes and insight from the creators of the show. It also includes 9 reversible characters cards which are pretty large, I don't really care about them but they're good quality. Also worth mentioning is that you cam change it to the original Japanese voice actors If you like, the English is very good though although the Japanese has stand out performances being Dio and Joseph. If you don't know what jojos bizarre adventure is then I couldn't recommend this more, at a glance it's just a really goofy show but when you really get into it you learn that it's one of the smartest shows of all time. It constantly stays fresh and entertaining, while having characters that are very relatable and lovable. The best part of jojo is that it only gets better and better. If part 3 comes out it a set just as good with no improvement I would be extremely excited. To sum up if you're a fan don't think about this just get it, and if you're on the fence then trust me this is an amazing series and if it doesn't grab you at first (which is understandable) keep going it gets exponentially better.
