Tone City Golden Plexi Version 2 Player Favorite

This really is a great pedal. Put this in front of a clean channel Peavey or Fender amp and get that Marshall sound. The ability to shape your EQ is good and the volume boost you can achieve with this little pedal is amazing. I paired this with the Tone City Lime Kaffir pedal and got great sounds!

There are a lot of JCM800 styled pedals out there, and a lot of them do a great job of the hi-gain (almost more 900-like), but this is the first one that fully accomplished the lo-gain crunch that I love about the 2204. I ran it A/B with A through the pedal into an AC30 and B into a JCM800 2204 and after some eqing of the amp, I could not tell the difference between A and B. Love it!

Saw this pedal in an Anderton’s video on YouTube. Sounded good so I thought I would check it out. Hated it immediately. Tried high gain, low gain, medium gain. Yuck. Very nasal pedal with none of the richness of a “plexi”. Maybe the V2 is just way worse than the original but so have never returned a pedal faster in my life. The ears don’t lie

This pedal is well built. The overdrive is medium to hard if that is what you want.

I have an original V1 that I love of course but the improvements they've made on Version 2 are definitely noticeable. Smoother gain and volume sweep are clearly evident. Sounds great.

I almost bought the first one of these but just wasn't quite there, so saw this and just went for it, great tone sustain, harmonics and can get loud,it just sounds really good, king Edward would have loved it, it's my new favorite drive pedal.

Over a period of years I've amassed an assortment of probably 30 classic plexi flavor pedals. Some cheap, some very expensive. Now while I doubt my quest will stop with this one it did quite decisively kick the long standing champ right off my board. That so rarely happens I get plumb giddy when it does. Only wish they'd offer this same exact circuit in a dist/clean boost dual combo.
