ANCEL SP02 Spark Plug Tester Automotive Engine Ignition Coil Tester Dual Holes 0 to 6000RPM Adjustable Working Frequency Car Spark Plug Gap Tool

A great little item to have in your DIY shop for testing plugs. First test I did with my Ancel SP02 was test the plugs on my old ONAN P220 mower engine to get it ready for this year's mowing. With the 2 test holes, it was perfect as I could watch both plugs spark same time. Noticed one plug was not as powerful as other so stopped test to see why. Did air gap measurement and found that weak plug's air gap was off. Did an adjustment and re-tested and ran the power up through it's paces. The higher the so-called RPM of tester, the noise changed in pitch to a high whine which I didn't expect. A good plug will spark blue to blue-white. If you see yellow, arcing out the glass insulator that you might not even notice from a crack, or plug has what is a dead spot (no spark) at certain RPM's of the tester it is time to replace that plug(s).Also, test all new plugs before installation. You'd be surprised to possibly find a bad plug from all the jostling around during shipment. Don't know why I hadn't gotten one of these years ago. They're also kinda fun to watch during the spark testing. I have a couple In-Line Spark Testers that work well, but this is better in that you can actually see the spark plug and what it's doing under a high RPM test load that a mower's engine won't get to and how healthy that spark is through the ranges the tester gives.

We had a poor combustion condition on one cylinder. Narrowed it down to the plug through process of elimination. Used this to verify spark was intermittent on the suspect plug. Cleaned and regapped, and it showed improvement, but still not as good as the plug from the other cylinder. Good tool for visually verifying function of spark plugs without risk of shock or when the engine has Ion Sense.

It’s a nice tool to have to verify that a spark plug is the culprit. Easy to use and is interesting looking. Educational too. Fun to watch the spark jump the gap.

Worth it for atv dirtbike. Can compare new vs old see what rpm it fails at so you stop 2nd guessing what you feel.

I would have given it 5 stars if it came with an adapter for shorter plugs that you would find on string trimmers and chainsaws. I ended up cutting a bolt and using the shank as an extension. Neat tool to have in the garage for testing plugs after cleaning and gapping. Verified I had a plug that was breaking down after use but would always test good using the simple pull test with the plug hooked up and grounded to the cylinder.

If you work on cars a lot it’s so useful. Start with the basics when diagnosing a problem. Takes guessing out of the equation. Easy to use and set up. The plastic guard gives you a clear view and keeps you safe from the spark.
