We purchased a new home (new to us) 5 years ago. The original owner kept good records of the appliances that were installed when the house was built in 2010. Checking on the age of the existing smoke alarms, I realized that they were now 15 years old, and should have been replaced 5 years ago. I ordered the same First Alert unit from Amazon, and replaced them. Since the units were an exact replacement, the installation was simple. No new wiring needed. Only had to twist off the alarm, unplug the old one, and them plug in the new one using the existing wiring, and twist the unit back into place. It couldn't have been any easier. Nice to see that they did not change the design much in 15 years. A good engineering discipline: You don't need to fix what isn't broken. I would recommend thsi product to anyone.

I ordered a 3 pack of the hardwired alarms. It took me less than 15 minutes to replace my outdated smoke alarms. Such a convenient swap at a reasonable price makes the peace of mind even greater. I would definitely recommend and buy again!

So, if you’re a light sleeper or someone who likes to sleep in total darkness, this could be an issue.But overall, I’m pretty impressed with these smoke alarms. They’re safe, reliable, and much more modern than the old ones I replaced. If you can live with the green glow (or just cover it with some electrical tape, no judgment here!), you’re getting an excellent product that’ll keep your family safe and sound – without the 3 a.m. "What’s that noise?!" panic.Highly recommend! Good price for three. Number appears different on the box but inside the unit is identical as indicated on the website. Can't explain that. Plugged in with no issue. No beeps

First Alert according to Consumers Report is a recommended smoke detector compared to other brands. The smoke/carbon monoxide detectors that were installed in our new house (2015) were First Alert. Also the price I paid on Amazon was a better deal than buying at local stores in my home town. The model replacement is both hardwired, and battery backup.

Plugged right into existing spots and is operating fine so far

I was able to simply unplug expired smoke alarms and plug-in these new replacements. Great that they come with 9-volt batteries already installed. Highly recommend!!
